Notion is the collaborative AI workspace where teams and agents think together. We're building one place where your knowledge, projects, meetings, and AI tools live side by side, so work is faster, clearer, and less fragmented. Millions of individuals, small teams, and large companies run their work on Notion.
Notinos (our employees) are customer zero in bringing this future of work to life. We care about craft, building things that last, and the belief that great work is still fundamentally human. Our goal isn’t to ship the next feature. Each and every team of Notinos is working to set the standard for how humans work together in the AI era. From building a business’s system of record to making and managing AI agents to automating away the busy work, we care deeply about giving our customers more time for their life’s work.
About the Role:You’ll lead Notion’s central QA team and the QA roadmap, setting clear ownership and quality standards that scale across Notion. The focus isn’t a checklist of test cases—it’s improving real product quality outcomes, with strong judgment about where risk is building and how to catch it early. You’ll build and evolve CI/CD quality gates aligned to Notion’s reliability/quality goals, improve early detection, and partner across teams and platforms to keep our shipping velocity high without breaking trust.
This role is based in Hyderabad, India. We work from our offices on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays (our Anchor Days) because we do our best thinking and building together in person. We’re looking for someone who’s excited to work alongside the team during those days.
What You'll Achieve:Big bet: Make quality a shared, measurable system across Notion—clear standards, predictable signal, and fewer surprises as we ship.
By your 30th day: Establish a single QA roadmap + prioritization rubric used cross-team, and align partners on quality standards and decision rights.
By your 60th day: Define and roll out CI/CD release quality gates aligned to quality/reliability goals for critical pipelines; make CI signal more reliable (less flake, faster feedback) for top workflows.
By your 90th day: Use AI/agents to generate and maintain high-signal tests, automate detection → triage → recommended fixes, and package those workflows so teams can reuse them.
By end of year 1: Raise the bar with a stable, highly automated QA org that measurably reduces escaped critical issues/SLO breaks and expands into scalable performance + reliability test coverage for key workflows.
Experience leading QA teams and owning a QA roadmap focused on measurable quality outcomes.
Strong QA-first mindset with an software engineering orientation (roughly 70% QA / 30% engineering) — able to set standards and also build/ship the systems that enforce them.
Outcome ownership: focuses on measurable product quality improvements (risk reduction, fewer escapes, higher confidence) rather than “tools” or checklist-driven QA work; strong judgment for where risk is building and how to catch it early.
Strong grasp of CI/CD and how automated test suites run, fail, and gate releases in practice.
Comfortable with our QA automation stack and eager to learn/level it up; able to evaluate alternatives and propose pragmatic improvements.
Ability to design and implement QA automation frameworks; has written AI-assisted/AI-driven automation tests in code (not just tooling evaluation).
Understand how AI has shaped modern QA and can apply AI/agents to accelerate quality workflows (test generation/maintenance, flake reduction, triage, and prevention) while fitting into existing team momentum.
Fluency with observability fundamentals and tools (e.g., Datadog/Honeycomb): defining metrics, dashboards, and using signal to detect risk early.
Proven ability to operate in a central QA model—aligning multiple teams/platforms on shared quality standards, priorities, and clear ownership.
Coach and develop QA engineers: raises the bar through mentorship, feedback, and clear career ladders/expectations.
Strong cross-functional collaborator: builds tight partnerships across Engineering, Product, Design, Support, and other teams to stay ahead of changes and pain points across Notion.

A Note on AIYou don’t need deep AI expertise for every role, but we do expect every Notino to be intellectually curious, drawn to tinkering and discovery, and excited to use AI as a real collaborator in their work. For some roles, AI fluency is a core requirement — when that’s the case, we'll say so explicitly in the qualifications. People who thrive here don’t treat AI as a novelty. They use it to think better, and make their work easier for others to build on.
