You will be a part of our Grid Software Engineering team, an Agile organization with a flexible working environment, where we are always looking to innovate our products and the processes and technologies we use. Our current focus is on leveraging our long history of Geospatial experience and expertise building client-server products, and evolving those products and tech stacks to modern cloud-based mapping and analytics micro-services. We are looking to grow our current team to meet these customer needs and will use your technical expertise and problem-solving abilities to innovate complex solutions. As a Software Engineer with a focus on building a backend data product, you will work closely with your product development peers in fast paced Agile development teams building efficient APIs using the latest software development technologies and infrastructure.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • Responsible for ensuring quality release delivery through test planning, execution, reporting and closure of release test activities.

  • Responsible for test case development and maintenance (manual/automation)

  • Good experience of developing or expanding test automation frameworks that provide a foundation for reliable, robust, and resilient test automation that can be integrated into a CI/CD pipeline or executed separately for on-prem or cloud platforms

  • Experience of Agile ways of working with heavy emphasis on shift left approach to quality.

  • Experience of non-functional testing (Performance, Scalability, Concurrency, Reliability, Availability, Interoperability, Compatibility) from planning to test execution / reporting.

  • Define and actively support on-going development of testing processes and implementation of testing best practice within scrum teams responsible for.

  • Ensure defect and test automation backlogs have a plan for resolution which can be measured and reported against on a regular basis.

  • Be able to support hiring, training and development of talent.

  • Demonstrates understanding of key cross functional team dependencies that impact the company, business priorities, & organizational dynamics.

  • Comprehends the products of business and how the automation concepts can be applied to provide solutions.

  • Connects, inspires, and builds loyalty & commitment through inclusion.

  • Applies and follows knowledge of technical expertise, QA best practices, and proven processes to technically lead a small team of software testers.

Technical Skills:
  • Good experience in technical testing of various Desktop, Web, and Mobile applications with proven ability to lead all areas of testing with hands on experience of test automation (e.g Backend API testing,E2E ) and non-functional testing (Performance and scalability)

  • Good knowledge and experience of some of the technologies/tools e.g. SoapUI, Jenkins, JMeter, Qtest , Angular, Node, Test Cafe, NestJS, Postgres, , JUnit, REST Assured,K6 performance , GitHub Actions, Java

  • Knowledge of Unix, Linux and platforms

  • Knowledge of Kubernetes and Docker

  • Experience of shift left approach to quality by adopting agile ways of working

  • Good knowledge and experience of testing cloud-based solutions, Restful Web services and micro-service architectures

  • Experience of TDD (test-driven development) and BDD

  • Experience of Azure DevOps, CI/CD pipelines.

Education Qualification:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or “STEM” Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) with minimum 5 years of experience.

  • ISTQB or other test qualifications.


Business Acumen:
  • Ability to architect automation testing for complex on-prem and cloud products

  • Strong problem-solving abilities and capable of articulating specific technical topics or assignments

  • Experience in breaking down problems and estimate time/resource for Automation

  • Evangelizes how our technology solves customer problems from a technology and business perspective

Leadership:

  • Demonstrates clarity of thinking to work through limited information and vague problem definitions

  • Has proven ability to lead small to medium teams effectively in the past

  • Proactively identifies and removes obstacles or barriers on behalf of the team
  • Shares knowledge, power, and credit, establishing trust, credibility, and goodwill

Personal Attributes:
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to interface with senior leadership with confidence and clarity
  • Able to work well with global teams, including time-zone flexibility
  • Skilled in providing oversight and mentoring team members.
