The Opportunity:

We’re looking for a detail-oriented and collaborative QA Engineer to join our team and help ensure the quality and reliability of our platform. In this role, you’ll primarily focus on manual testing while gradually building your skills in API test automation. Working closely with other engineering teams, you’ll play a role in the software development lifecycle—creating and executing test cases, uncovering edge cases, validating data, and contributing to a seamless user experience. What you'll do:

As a QA Engineer, with some API automation experience, you will focus primarily on manual testing while gaining experience and contributing to automation efforts within your squad. You’ll collaborate closely with developers, Product Managers, UX Designers, and other QA Engineers to ensure the quality and reliability of our platform.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Participate in squad meetings, sprint planning, and standups to align on goals and timelines.
  • Write, maintain, and execute manual test cases in TestRail covering new features, bug fixes, and regressions.
  • Perform exploratory testing to uncover edge cases and usability issues.
  • Collaborate with developers to understand technical implementations and ensure adequate test coverage.
  • Assist in maintaining and running existing API automation tests using Python and Pytest (training available).
  • Occasionally contribute to updating or writing new automation scripts for backend APIs under guidance.
  • Write and execute SQL queries for backend data validation as needed.
  • Work closely with Technical Support Engineers and Engineering to troubleshoot customer-reported issues, identify root causes, and verify fixes.
  • Partner with our Philippines QA team to coordinate regression testing and special projects.
  • Track issues and test progress in Jira with clear, accurate reporting.
  • Own the release process for your squad, validating readiness for deployment.

Your Skills Include:

  • 2+ years of experience in Manual QA or similar technical role.
  • Strong skills in manual functional, exploratory, and regression testing.
  • Familiarity with TestRail, Postman, Jira, Datadog, Sentry, Browser DevTools, and writing SQL queries.
  • Interest or exposure to API test automation using Python (or other OOP languages); willingness to expand automation skills.
  • Effective debugging, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills for working across teams.
  • Comfortable working in an Agile development environment.

Bonus Points If You Have:

  • Hands-on experience writing or maintaining API automation tests.
  • Experience contributing to a test automation framework.
  • Familiarity with GitHub, CI/CD pipelines.
  • Basic knowledge of cloud platforms like AWS.

Interviewing @ Canopy:

We know application processes can be a little stressful. Here’s are the stages of a typical interview process:

  • Once your application is received, we will review it and get back to you if we feel like it’s a mutual fit! 
  • 20 minute phone call with the People Team
  • 45-60 minute video or in-person interview with the Hiring Manager
  • 1-3 rounds of interviews depending on the role
  • Final Interview

Interview processes can vary depending on the role. The People Team will give you a role specific overview of the process during your first phone call.
