Role Summary:
The ITP Preparation Engineer is responsible for preparing, reviewing, and maintaining Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) for API 610 pump projects in line with customer specifications, project quality requirements, applicable codes and standards, and internal quality procedures. The role ensures that all quality requirements are correctly identified and translated for the various departments like procurement, manufacturing, inspection, assembly, testing, and documentation. The position requires close coordination with Engineering, Quality, Procurement, Manufacturing, Project Management, and Customers to ensure compliance with contractual and technical requirements throughout the project lifecycle.
Responsibilities
Prepare, review, and revise Inspection and Test Plans for API 610 pumps and associated components based on customer specifications, datasheets, project requirements, and applicable standards
Interpret customer quality requirements and ensure they are fully incorporated into ITPs, quality plans, and inspection documentation
Review purchase requisitions and technical procurement documents to confirm quality requirements are properly captured for bought-out items and raw materials
Coordinate with Engineering, Procurement, Manufacturing, Supplier Quality, and Project teams to clarify and implement project-specific quality requirements
Prepare inspection and test procedures for component inspection, assembly inspection, hydro testing, performance testing, NDE, painting, preservation, packing, and final release activities
Ensure compliance with API 610, customer specifications, ITP requirements, and applicable international codes and standards
Participate in contract review, KOM, OHM, PIM, and project quality review meetings.
Support pre-order and post-order review of quality requirements, specifications, and inspection scope
Monitor changes in specifications and project requirements and update ITPs accordingly
Support internal, customer, and third-party inspections by ensuring ITP stages and hold/witness/review points are properly defined
Coordinate with suppliers and internal stakeholders to ensure quality requirements are flowed down correctly in procurement documents
Supporting closure of quality issues through root cause analysis, corrective actions, and preventive actions
Maintain quality records, inspection formats, and standard templates related to ITP preparation
Contribute to standardization and continuous improvement of ITP preparation processes and quality documentation systems
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering
3–7 years of experience in Quality, Inspection, or ITP preparation, preferably in pump manufacturing or rotating equipment industry
Experience in API 610 pump projects is preferred
Strong knowledge of API 610 pumps, pump components, and auxiliary systems
Good understanding of inspection and testing requirements for castings, forgings, machined parts, fabricated parts, and assembled pumps
Experience in preparation of ITPs, quality plans, inspection procedures, and project quality documentation
Knowledge of customer specifications, project quality requirements, and document review processes
Familiarity with material certification requirements such as EN 10204 3.1 & 3.2
Knowledge of NDE methods such as VT, PT, MT, UT, and RT
Good understanding of welding, heat treatment, hydro testing, performance testing, and final inspection requirements
Working knowledge of applicable codes and standards such as API 610, ASME Sections V, VIII, IX, ASTM, and other relevant international standards
Knowledge in ASME SEC-III will be added advantage.
Exposure to supplier quality requirements and procurement quality flow-down
Ability to identify gaps between customer requirements and internal/project documentation
Proficiency in root cause analysis, CAPA, and quality improvement methods
Good knowledge of Microsoft Office tools for documentation and reporting
Strong communication, coordination, analytical, and problem-solving skills
ASNT Level II or equivalent NDE certification
