Position Overview

We are looking for a motivated QA Engineer (Install Automation) to join the Revit and Civil 3D Install Team. This role is focused on Revit and Civil 3D Installation testing, helping ensure the quality, reliability, and stability of Revit installer-related solutions and release deliveries.

As a QA Engineer on this team, you will work closely with engineers and cross-functional partners to validate installer quality through test strategy, test design, automation development, defect analysis, customer support, and risk assessment. You will play an important role in ensuring that Revit installation experiences—including install, upgrade, repair, uninstall, and related delivery workflows—meet a high-quality bar on Windows platforms.

This is a test engineering role, not a pure software development position. The ideal candidate should be passionate about software quality, automation, and desktop installation technologies, with solid knowledge of Windows Operating System fundamentals and hands-on interest in installer testing.

Responsibilities

  • Be part of a collaborative engineering team and contribute to a culture of quality, ownership, and continuous improvement

  • Participate in end-to-end testing activities for Revit and Civil 3D Installation, including requirements analysis, design review, test strategy definition, test case design, execution, defect tracking, software quality analysis, and risk assessment

  • Design, develop, and maintain automated test tools and test cases for installer-related scenarios based on business and product needs

  • Validate the quality and reliability of Revit and Civil 3D installer workflows, including but not limited to installation, upgrade, patching, repair, rollback, uninstallation, configuration validation, and version compatibility

  • Test and verify installer behavior across different Windows environments, system settings, user permission levels, and machine states

  • Investigate and reproduce customer-reported or internally discovered issues, and work with developers to improve installer stability, usability, and delivery quality

  • Identify bottlenecks, risks, and quality gaps in installer-related workflows, and help improve testing efficiency through better tooling, automation, and process optimization

  • Collaborate with software developers and global engineering teams to ensure high-quality product delivery

  • Contribute individual technical expertise to improve test coverage, test effectiveness, and release confidence for desktop installation scenarios

Minimum Qualifications

  • 1+ year of relevant experience in software testing and software quality assurance

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience

  • Good understanding of software testing fundamentals, including test design, defect lifecycle, root cause analysis, and quality risk assessment

  • Basic programming or scripting skills in languages such as Python, Groovy, or Shell for test automation or tooling development

  • Familiarity with test automation concepts and interest in developing or maintaining automated test frameworks/cases

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills

  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment with team members across different locations

  • Good written and verbal communication skills

  • Solid understanding of Windows Operating System fundamentals, such as file system, registry, services, processes, permissions, environment settings, and common troubleshooting approaches

  • Basic knowledge of desktop software installation technologies and lifecycle scenarios, such as install, uninstall, upgrade, repair, and installer package validation

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience testing desktop applications or Windows installer packages

  • Knowledge of installation technologies such as MSI, bootstrapper-based installers, silent installation, upgrade/rollback behavior, and dependency validation

  • Familiarity with Windows system diagnostics and troubleshooting tools related to installation and deployment issues

  • Familiarity with Jenkins or other CI systems is a plus

  • Knowledge of Microsoft .NET platform is a plus
