We are seeking a permanent full-time manual Software QA Engineer to collaborate with cross-discipline project team members to create, review and execute quality testing plans for one or more assigned Product Delivery teams. Specifically in the area of payroll, payroll taxes and compliance.
The Software QA Engineer will work closely with software developers, product managers, and peer software test engineers. This is a growing software quality assurance team, with plenty of opportunities for growth.
Responsibilities:
- Apply past experiences working within the PEO/payroll industry to create and execute detailed and comprehensive test plans for PrismHR products. This includes anticipating how “real world” users interact with our software from a variety of roles to create end-to-end tests.
- Participate in the entire development life cycle from concept to release in an Agile environment
- Learn software industry standard quality assurance practices, including but not limited to test case design, software defect reporting, and agile testing techniques, as well as common software QA tools
- Enhance the collective industry understanding of the entire QA team and their ability to create realistic test cases, through occasional training and mentoring of peers on PEO subject matter
- Contribute to the creation of realistic test data
- Delivers and tracks progress to testing schedules, within aggressive “time-to-market” driven project environments, sometimes across parallel projects
- Collaborates within the QA team and across product development on process improvement initiatives
- Regularly summarizes testing status and areas of risk, and wherever possible proposes and executes mitigation strategies. Employs a sound risk management approach to determine well-structured and comprehensive test strategies for assigned projects
- Collaborate with automation QA engineers to identify and prioritize areas for significant efficiency and confidence gains through test automation
- Analyzes, tracks, and reports on application issues and maintains documentation on project issues and defect metrics
Qualifications:
- Required minimum 3 years of experience within the PEO or payroll industry
- Experience with PrismHR software a plus
- Expert with payroll taxes, submissions, calculations, and applications such as Vertex and Mastertax
- Proficient with certified payrolls, unions, FLSA, EEO, ACA
- College degree or equivalent experience, preferably in Computer Science
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) a plus
- Outstanding communication skills, both verbal and written. Very comfortable at documenting and conveying standard operating procedures
- Excellent troubleshooting ability and critical thinking
- Strong team player with a “can do” attitude. Routinely demonstrates flexibility and is a very capable multi-tasker. Possesses solid organizational and time management skills.
- Possesses a strong desire to learn current software development best practices (Agile), and in particular, the software testing discipline, in applying deep domain experience
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced work environment
- PC savvy, from an end-user perspective. Highly comfortable using browser-based software applications and office application suites
