We are looking for a smart QA Automation Engineer to build, enhance, and maintain our test automation infrastructure across Tarana's product lines. You will own feature test planning and execution, contribute to our automation framework, and apply AI/GenAI tooling to improve regression analysis. This role requires solid embedded telecom/networking knowledge along with strong test automation skills.
Job Responsibilities:
- Contribute to the design, development, and enhancement of our existing Python-based automation framework.
- Create and maintain automation test suites for feature and regression testing across product lines.
- Own feature test planning, test case design, execution, and reporting for assigned areas.
- Build and maintain custom AI-driven "skills"/agents to automate repetitive QA workflows (e.g., log analysis, failure classification, test summarization).
- Create AI-powered tools to enhance QA productivity and efficiency across the test lifecycle.
- Debug test scripts to identify defects, then log and follow them through to resolution and verification.
- Own regression test areas and ensure product quality is maintained despite code churn.
- Participate in design reviews and roadmap discussions with Product Management, Development, and Solutions teams.
- Collaborate with and mentor junior QA engineers; review test plans/code written by peers.
- Ensure effective communication of test status and quality risks to stakeholders.
Required Skills & Experience:
- Bachelor's/Master's degree in Computer Science or a closely related discipline.
- 4-6 years of QA automation experience using Python on embedded telecom products, networking products, or microservices/cloud-based SaaS products.
- Hands-on experience applying AI/GenAI/LLM-based tools to testing workflows — e.g., automated failure analysis, log/RCA summarization, or building custom AI agents/skills — is required.
- Good understanding of Object-Oriented Design and experience with at least one Python test framework (pytest, unittest, nose).
- Exposure to networking fundamentals and protocols — L2/L3/L4, switching, VLAN, TCP/IP, routing — is a strong plus.
- Experience with UI automation tools (Selenium/Playwright) and API/backend testing (REST, JSON, XML).
- Familiarity with Jenkins/GitLab CI pipelines.
- Proficient with a version control system (git preferred).
- Experience in Unix/Linux environments and shell scripting.
- Exposure to networking test tools (IPerf, Xena, IXIA, Spirent, VIAVI JDSU) is a plus.
- Excellent debugging and analytical skills, with good understanding of QA processes and Agile methodologies.
- Experience with Jira and Confluence.

What We Do
Tarana’s mission is to accelerate the deployment of fast, affordable internet access around the world. Through a decade of R&D and more than $400M of investment, the Tarana team has created a unique next-generation fixed wireless access (ngFWA) technology instantiated in its first commercial platform, Gigabit 1 (G1). It delivers a game-changing advance in broadband economics in both mainstream and underserved markets, using either licensed or unlicensed spectrum. G1 started production in mid-2021 and has since been embraced by more than 250 service providers in 19 countries and 41 US states. Tarana is headquartered in Milpitas, California, with additional research and development in Pune, India. Visit our website for more on G1.
