The person in this position is responsible for overseeing multiple product QA teams for automation testing. This person is responsible for assuring the quality of various applications, including developing appropriate testing strategies.
This individual works in partnership with developers, business analysts, and project managers to verify the conformance of solutions to requirements. The role relies upon test automation tools.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for creating and working with automation frameworks to perform testing on applications through automated scripts
- Responsible for test planning, test automation, test environment setup/teardown, exploratory testing, defect logging and verification
- Responsible for creating test strategy, automation setups based on project requirements for automating testing efforts, regression, performance, load testing, etc.
- Reviews client requirements and provides feedback on their testability
- Reviews code/scripts/work done by other automation resources and provides feedback
- Reviews and re-evaluates the test strategies to adjust to changing risks, shifting priorities, and schedules
- Oversees testing of software features: implementation and execution of functional, regression, and acceptance tests through automation
- Oversees the creation and maintenance of automated test data and test documentation
- Leads/mentors test engineers and shares knowledge to make sure QA staff meet the technical qualifications required for their positions
- Participates in recruiting new staff, conducting interviews, and evaluating potential candidates
- Works with clients to evaluate and implement new technologies, offering strategies for improving their testing processes
- Assists executive staff in setting the direction for assuring the quality of the software we produce within the organization
- Collaborates with various teams to resolve bugs and issues identified during testing
- Assists in coaching junior staff, providing feedback, delegating tasks, and helping them develop testing skills
- Documents all work performed
The ideal candidate for the position should have the following qualifications and skills:
Technical Qualifications:
- Experience in testing various application features, services, and user interfaces
- Experience in test automation and creating repeatable, maintainable, automated test suites
- Experience in performance testing, SQL queries, Selenium, Shell programming, MS Test, etc.
- Experience working with Selenium, Test-Complete, QTP, Performance and Web Service testing tools - JMeter, Soap UI and any other tools etc.
- Experience in communicating with clients
- Understanding MS Test, NUnit, Junit, TestNG, Karma, Protractor, Jasmine, Chai, Mocha, and/or any other Unit testing framework
- Understanding of test-driven development & behavior driven development
- Understanding of software development lifecycle and best practices
- Understanding of Agile and Waterfall processes
- Understanding of user interface design
- Knowledge of software quality assurance best practices & methodologies
- Familiarity with various defect management systems
- Familiarity with working with AI tools
Personal Skills:
- Ability to communicate technical aspects to people with a non-IT background
- Ability to act as a liaison between QA and development teams
- Ability to ensure that solutions developed by technical teams fit the business needs
- Ability to offer alternative approaches to achieve the client’s goals

Education and Work Experience:
- Background in CS, IT, or related scientific discipline
- The candidate should have over 7 years of working experience or equivalent education and experience
Skills Required
- 7+ years of relevant QA or test automation experience
- Degree in Computer Science, IT, or related discipline
- Experience building and working with test automation frameworks
- Experience with Selenium
- Experience with Test-Complete and QTP
- Experience with performance and web service testing tools (JMeter, SoapUI)
- SQL query experience
- Shell scripting experience
- Familiarity with unit testing frameworks (MS Test, NUnit, JUnit, TestNG, Karma, Protractor, Jasmine, Chai, Mocha)
- Understanding of test-driven development (TDD) and behavior-driven development (BDD)
- Understanding of SDLC, Agile and Waterfall methodologies
- Experience creating test strategy, planning, environment setup/teardown, and test automation for regression/performance
- Experience mentoring, leading QA teams, and participating in recruiting/interviews
