ABOUT THE ROLE:
As a QA Architect, you are responsible for how quality is built into our software across teams. Not as a final checkpoint, but as a core part of how we design, build, and ship. You set the direction for testing, automation, and risk management at a company level, helping teams move fast without compromising stability.
You don’t manage people or own deliveries. Instead, you influence how engineering teams work by shaping developing systems, standards, and a shared understanding of quality. A key part of the role is making structural quality and testing debt visible and actionable, so leadership can make informed trade-offs between speed, reliability, and long-term health.
You work closely with engineers, QA teammates, tech leads, and product leadership across squads. This is a hands-on, collaborative role for someone who enjoys shaping practices and systems, rather than running a team.
ONCE YOU ARE HERE YOU WILL:
- Set a clear, pragmatic direction for quality and testing across teams
- Shift quality left by helping teams consider testing and risk during design and implementation
- Define how testing is balanced across unit, integration, API, and end-to-end levels
- Improve system testability and stay up to date with modern testing and automation approaches, applying them where they genuinely simplify testing and improve feedback
- Clarify what “safe to ship” means using automation, signals, and engineering judgment
- Make quality and testing debt visible and explain its impact in terms leadership understands
- Set standards for non-functional risks such as performance, reliability, security, and accessibility, in collaboration with teams
- Use data from tests, production issues, and incidents to identify patterns and address root causes
- Support engineers and QA teammates on making sound quality trade-offs
- Keep QA tools and setups maintainable, effective, and aligned with real needs
- Capture principles and decisions so teams don’t repeatedly solve the same problems
- Support hiring senior QA and quality-focused engineers
WHAT WE NEED YOU TO BRING TO THE TABLE:
- Deep hands-on experience in QA or Quality Engineering, including test automation
- Proven experience improving quality across multiple teams or complex systems
- Strong understanding of modern CI/CD pipelines and automated testing strategies
- Comfortable in discussing risk, technical debt, and trade-offs with engineers and leadership
- A practical mindset focused on early feedback and long-term maintainability
- The ability to influence without formal authority or heavy process
- A genuine care for users, teammates, and product quality
- Confidence working with high autonomy and ambiguity
