In this position...

This role is required to support the LAP EV launch and upcoming vehicle builds. The engineer will focus on confirming manufacturing tool and facility readiness, specifically for the Eines and other metrology tools, while managing the implementation of quality improvement items to meet build targets. Beyond launch support, the position is responsible for driving current model quality improvements in the Body Shop, focusing on reducing Repairs/1000 (R/1000), managing VME responsibilities for minor programs and running changes, and leading the implementation of tools, technologies, and error-proofing methods to resolve process and manufacturing related issues.

What you'll do...

• Confirm manufacturing tool and facility readiness for the Eines and other metrology tools ahead of EV launch and vehicle builds
• Manage implementation of quality improvement items to support build targets
• Review daily Vehicle Warranty for proper binning (Process, Design, Supplier Design, Supplier Process)
• Address warranty/build issues and containment actions with supporting data at Daily Quality Meetings
• Lead Variability Reduction Team (VRT) for Sheet Metal / Wind Noise process/manufacturing concerns
• Provide manufacturing input into development and prioritization of vehicle quality roadmaps, containment, and corrective actions
• Assist VRT to ensure alignment with plant internal quality indicators (QLS, FCPA) and verify containment actions
• Support development and management of quality roadmaps to deliver Vehicle Functional Group (VFG) objectives (TGW, R/1000, CPU) by implementing revisions to:
  • Tooling, equipment, and facilities
  • Process
  • Error-proofing implementation
  • Measurement methods
• Support Health Chart assessments for Sheet Metal / Wind Noise
• Launch Minor/Job#2 programs, Added Starters, capacity changes, and running changes, including:
  • Assembly feasibility
  • Issue resolution, validation, and documentation
  • Change control (tooling, equipment, facilities, and labor costing)
  • Tooling, equipment, and facilities development and installation
• Support in-plant trials and prove-outs associated with:
  • Engineering concerns, Material Cost Reduction (MCR) actions, Engineering Alerts
  • Capacity change actions
  • Labor cost studies and actions
• Support Vehicle Quality Review report-outs with manufacturing analysis using Six Sigma problem-solving tools
• Conduct process development and production process sheet updates

You'll have...

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, or related field); equivalent experience considered (5+ years)
• Prior experience in Body Shop manufacturing, launch, or quality engineering within an automotive assembly environment
• Working knowledge of body construction processes, tooling, metrology systems (e.g., Eines), and error-proofing methods
• Experience with quality tools and methodologies (Six Sigma, root cause/corrective action, 8D, VRT processes)
• Familiarity with plant quality systems and metrics (QLS, FCPA, R/1000, CPU)
• Experience supporting vehicle launches, running changes, or capacity/added starter programs preferred
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to interpret warranty and build data
• Effective communication and cross-functional collaboration skills (plant, engineering, supplier, and quality teams)
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, launch-driven environment
• Proficiency with standard manufacturing/quality software tools (e.g., data analysis, reporting platforms)

This position is a salary grade 7 and ranges from $86,600-$144,900.

This position is a salary grade 8 and ranges from $99,100-$166,200. 

Final determination of salary grade will be based on candidate's skills and experience, and base salary will be set within the applicable range according to job scope, responsibility and competitive market value.
