Inside the Role
The Product Validation Engineering (PVE) vehicle integration team is responsible for sub-system and full vehicle electrical and electronic validation of DTNA products. This includes our Freightliner, Western Star, Medium Duty and Electrical Vehicles platforms. This position is part of the Powertrain E/E Integration team within PVE that is responsible for vehicle level powertrain integration topics for combustion and electric trucks with proprietary and third party powertrains. Our validation is conducted in workshops, on the road, and at offsite testing facilities. This team interfaces with many departments in the organization including TT/S, Chassis and Detroit Engineering. This role will focus on leading engine feature integration and validation for Detroit powertrains. You will be responsible for defining and executing the strategy for engine feature validation within the PTM department. You will partner with design to ensure that we have a robust end to end validation process that will enable DTNA to provide best in class powertrain functionality to our customers. Additionally, you will be responsible for supporting projects, process improvement initiatives and continuous improvement ideas within the PTM department in PVE. What You Drive at DTNA
- Define validation strategy and lead validation efforts for engine related feature topics
- Partner with design to align on validation strategies
- Support planning efforts for powertrain development workshops
- Support strategic department initiatives within the department stretching over projects, areas of continuous improvement and process initiatives
- Create test plans that outline main inputs and outputs to fulfill validation requirements for powertrain features
- Mentor and support team members to become expert test engineers as they join the team
- Broaden expertise outside of immediate responsibilities and become an expert in powertrain integration topics
Knowledge You Should Bring
- Bachelor’s Degree with a focus in Mechanical, Electrical or related engineering field and 2 years of experience OR 5 years related experience
- Experience finding solutions to complex system issues required
- Willingness to learn and train others required
- Must be well organized, able to handle multiple, detailed tasks, and work professionally with various levels of DTNA management
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Detail oriented, reliable and self-motivated
- Ability to work in an environment of ambiguity and ongoing change
- Ability to obtain a commercial driver’s license
- An attached resume is required
Exceptional Candidates Might Have
- Experience with DTNA vehicle electrical architecture
- Experience with DTNA powertrain development processes
- Previous vehicle validation experience and knowledge of automotive systems
- Knowledge of Vector tools (e.g. CANape, CANalyzer, etc.)
- 2 years of design or validation experience related to Mechatronics topics
