Preferred Qualifications

ROLE: The Purchaser is responsible for purchasing merchandise, materials, components, equipment, and/or services; performs a variety of production planning activities required to attain production objectives.  Assignments are relatively complex and generally involve planning activities for products and/or production processes where the manufacturing process is variable.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.

  • Initiate all Purchase Orders
  • Investigates and identifies qualified suppliers; issues requests for quotations; may evaluate vendor reliability.
  • Determines method of procurement such as direct purchase or bid.
  • Reviews, approves and issues purchase requisitions; follows up and expedites as necessary.
  • Channel all subcontracted maintenance functions, equipment calibrations, or fabrication of parts to an authorized provider found on the applicable list
  • Coordinates purchasing activities with technicians and engineering departments to maintain inventory.
  • Maintains procurement records such as items or services purchased, costs, delivery, product quality or performance, and inventories.
  • Verify that the remaining lifespan of any shelf life item is sufficient at the time of purchase
  • Monitors market trends and conditions.
  • Plans and issues schedules and materials requirements.
  • Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

 

EDUCATION

  • High School Diploma or GED Equivalent required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or relevant field, from an accredited college or university preferred.

 

 

EXPERIENCE

  • At least 2+ years of purchasing experience in the aviation industry.

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS     None

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS OR ABILITIES

  • Language/Communication:  English; Excellent communication skills both written and oral required. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Computer Skills:  Basic knowledge of all Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel, outlook; Experienced in use of MRP Systems, PENTAGON preferred.
  • Mathematical Skills:  Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.  Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Reasoning Abilities:  Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Organizational Skills:  Strong organizational skills, strict attention to details and ability to multitask and prioritize as necessary, with minimal supervisory direction. Must be flexible in handling multiple tasks. Very high degree of accuracy in accomplishing the repetitive handling of various technical documents
  • Interpersonal Skills: Must work well in a team environment and independently. 
  • Technical Skills:  Working technical knowledge of aviation maintenance procurement

 

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS 

While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; talk or hear; and occasionally required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.  The associate must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Moderate noise (examples: business office with computers and printers, light traffic).
