Key Responsibilities
Assist in cargo and ballast operations, tank cleaning, and mooring activities. Conduct routine inspections and maintenance of cargo systems and associated equipment to ensure they are in good working order. Assist in the maintenance and repairs of cargo and ballast equipment and maintain the inventory of deck stores as delegated by the Chief Officer. Comply with safety, environmental, and security procedures and regulations.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
Essential Knowledge: The Pumpman must be familiar with company policies, SOLAS, MARPOL, and flag state regulations. Key knowledge areas include the Theory and Practice of Seamanship, loading and unloading operations, ballast operations, cargo pumping systems, tank cleaning, and sampling. Essential areas also include operation and routine maintenance of deck machinery, use of gas monitoring equipment, waste management, and pollution control practices.
Essential Skills and Abilities: Effective leadership, communication, and reporting skills are essential for the Pumpman, along with the ability to operate, maintain, and assist in repairing deck equipment. Strong time management skills, the ability to prioritize tasks, and ensure the completion of responsibilities on schedule are required. Proficiency in inspecting and verifying cargo system readiness before loading and unloading, as well as troubleshooting and maintaining cargo and associated systems, is crucial.

Handles and maintains cargo and associated deck equipment, including troubleshooting and assisting in resolving technical issues under guidance.
