About the Team
Elsevier is looking for a bright and enthusiastic Publisher to manage the onboarding of societies across our STM journals business. In this role, the Publisher for Society onboarding will closely collaborate with stakeholders in the Society Business Development team and the wider STMJ group to support the onboarding process for new acquisitions. They will also work to streamline and standardize the current onboarding process to ensure a smooth and transparent process for our new society partners and internal stakeholders.
About the Role
This Publisher for Society Onboarding position will sit in the Flex Publisher team within the Journal Development & Editor Engagement Center of Excellence (CoE), and report directly to me. The Center of Execellence focuses on developing and implementing a best practice-based approach to drive journal launches, supporting journal development and performance for new and established journals, in addition to partnering with Publishers to build a more collaborative culture with external editors.
Responsibilities
- Act as single point of contact for onboarding process.
- owning the onboarding process for new societies.
- Ensuring key milestones are met according to established timelines.
- Working with stakeholders to adapt onboarding process as needed to meet journal specific needs.
- Understanding strategic plan for each journal and adapt onboarding process. where necessary to ensure successful implementation of plan.
- Reporting on progress of each journal’s onboarding and highlight potential risks to meeting established targets and timelines.
Requirements
- Have a creative/entrepreneurial/innovative attitude is essential.
- Display excellent communication skills (written and verbal), with a calm, diplomatic attitude.
- Have journal operational knowledge.
- Able to establish, manage and maintain excellent relationships with societies and key external and internal stakeholders.
- Have a university degree.
- Have a minimum of 2 years journal publishing experience.
- Able to fluently communicate (written and verbal) in the English language.
- Display excellent networking skills.
- Able to be flexible and work effortlessly in a complex, matrix international environment.
- Display financial awareness and business acumen.
- Have knowledge of relevant parts of the scientific world and its sociology.
