Lake Consolidated Emergency Communications (LakeComm) is a brand new consolidated 9-1-1 Emergency Communications Center housed in a portion of the new state of the art Lake County Regional Operations & Communications Facility. LakeComm supports 9-1-1 call-taking and emergency dispatching for 30 police and fire agencies in Lake County, Illinois.
LakeComm is seeking entry-level, full-time Public Safety Telecommunicators to join our high-performing communications center and team. The position will require 12-hour shifts, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and overtime.

RequirementsUnder the direction of a Shift Supervisor, Public Safety Telecommunicators perform critical emergency communications functions, including:
- Receiving and processing emergency and non-emergency calls for service
- Dispatching police, fire, and EMS units via radio and computer-aided dispatch (CAD) systems
- Managing multiple high-priority tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Operating complex communications and information systems with accuracy and professionalism
- Maintain strict confidentiality of sensitive, protected, and law-enforcement-related information.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Must be at least 18 years old
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to work all assigned shifts, including weekends, holidays, and overtime
- Prior experience in a call center, public safety, or customer service experience preferred
Required Certifications (within 6 months of hire):
- Law Enforcement Agencies Data System (LEADS) Certification
- APCO Public Safety Telecommunicator (PST) I Certification
- Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certification
- Emergency Fire Dispatch (EFD) Certification
- Emergency Medical Dispatch (EMD) Certification
- State of Illinois Emergency Medical Dispatch License

LakeComm is a consolidated Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) and emergency dispatch agency serving Lake County, Illinois. It provides 9-1-1 call-taking and emergency dispatching for 30 police and fire agencies, operating under an intergovernmental agreement involving more than 30 municipalities, fire protection districts, Lake County, and other public-safety service providers. The organization emerged from over a decade of regional 9-1-1 consolidation planning, collaboration, and investment.
