Job Summary
Responsible for providing leadership to Public Safety operations at CW facilities. Ensues compliance with all Childrens Hospital and Health System policies/procedures relative to overall professional operation of department programs and activities. Responsible for providing oversight and coordination of day-to-day activities, including, but not limited to; emergency response, uniformed officer services, communication center operations, training, investigations, staff safety, property protection and parking management. The Public Safety Department has system-wide accountability.

  • Bachelor's Degree in Criminal justice or related field, commensurate experience will be considered in lieu of degree.
  • 5+ years experience in a public safety, security or law enforcement leadership capacity with preference given to hospital or campus public safety leadership, to include in depth technical and state of the art knowledge of the various disciplines encountered within similar program in its daily operation (e.g. alarm systems, operations, training, recruitment, investigations, emergency management, behavioral health, closed circuit television, radio communications, etc.) required.
  • Requires acceptable driving record, ability to be insured by CHHS carrier.
  • Analytical ability necessary to resolve complex security problems and implement appropriate systems and processes.
  • Interpersonal and communication skills necessary to lead the Public Safety team and to implement and manage programs in conjunction with other departments, health system entities or outside agencies.
  • Principles of fiscal, statistical, and administrative research, evaluation, and report preparation.
  • Principles and practices of business communication, including business letter writing and report preparation, etc.
  • Ability to interface with organizational leadership and external CSSW business partners in providing public safety services.
  • Design operational directives in support program initiatives.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills are necessary in order to effectively interact with a variety of hospital employees, staff and visitors, sometimes under potentially stressful situations.
  • Intermediate computer skills in order to utilize current and future equipment and systems (PC software applications, Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, Hospital software applications EPIC, CAD, Incident Reporting, Surveillance Systems, etc.) at a level normally acquired through attendance at technical courses, related experience or training.
  • Analytical skills necessary in order to inspect hospital areas, ensure security of all hospital staff, visitors and patients.
  • License Driver's License - State of Wisconsin required.

License Driver's License - State of Wisconsin

Skills Required
