The Public Safety Officer II provides a visible deterrence to crime and prohibited activities within the Health Center by being noticeably present.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

- Responds within 2-3 minutes to emergency and non-emergency situations as reported by the staff.
- Responsible for opening the Health Center. Ensures the building is de-alarmed, appropriate doors are open and unlocked.
- At the close of business, ensures the Health Center is secured by checking all the doors, checks that all persons have left the building, shuts off lights and unnecessary appliances, and secures all outside doors and alarms the building.
- Escorts visitors, patients and personnel to various locations of the Health Center as needed.
- Reports to supervisor any incidence of visitor or employee actions which could result in injury or loss to company or employees.
- Assists in the maintenance and housekeeping duties as needed.
- Monitors walks during in climate weather and assess in treating entrance ways if needed.
- Is responsible for carrying a radio and being able to communicate to other officers clearly over the radio.
- Must be familiar with the emergency water, gas, fire system and electric shut offs in the event of an emergency situation.
- Willing to work shifts other than regularly assigned schedule to assure full coverage at the Health Center.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:
1. Must meet the physical demands for performing the duties of this job.

REQUIRED EDUCATION & OTHER CREDENTIALS:
Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience: Current or previous law enforcement experience or five years security experience in a Healthcare setting.
Certification/Licensure: Current Massachusetts License to Carry Firearms (LTC)
O.C. (Oleoresin Capsicum) Certification or able to obtain in 6 months
Taser Operator Training or able to complete in 6 months.
MOAB trained or completed in 6 months.
Certified Healthcare Security Office (CHSO) or able to obtain in 6 months.
Software/Hardware: Experience using computers and Microsoft Office is required.
Skills Required
- High school diploma or equivalent
