TITLE: Public Safety Officer
LOCATION: Snowbird Center & Cliff Lodge Public Safety
STATUS: Full-time, Year-round
SCHEDULE: Graveyard shift - midnight to 8AM, 4 days a week
SUMMARY
As a Public Safety Officer at Snowbird, you are responsible for policy enforcement, security and the safety of resort guests and employees under the direction of Public Safety Manager. You will administer first aid, provide information when requested, and perform security functions.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Provides law enforcement and security services. Patrols all areas of the Snowbird Village or Cliff Lodge, as assigned.
- Ensures all buildings are secure and admits authorized personnel to secured areas as necessary.
- Investigates all unlawful activities.
- Files reports concerning incident.
- Works with law enforcement agencies in the filing of reports, conducting investigations and apprehending suspects.
- Offers aid to stranded motorists. Directs guests as needed. Assists in parking vehicles and relocating vehicles for snow removal.
- Administers first aid to accident victims. Assists victims of any serious accidents while waiting for ambulance or helicopter transportation. Documents any incident involving Snowbird property or employees.
- Reports any safety concerns to immediate department head and Public Safety supervisor.
- Must organize, secure and handle material that is highly confidential.
- Responsible for operating a two-way radio, four-wheel drive vehicles and emergency medical equipment.
- Responsible for the security and protection of all Snowbird property.
- Responsible for the routine maintenance of the department's vehicles and equipment.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
WHAT YOU NEED TO GET THE JOB DONE
- Excellent customer service skills.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- 6-12 months of job-specific work experience with demonstrated competence.
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Valid Driver License with Clean Motor Vehicle Record.
- First Aid knowledge preferred.
- Must be comfortable with computers, have a working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel, and the aptitude and interest to learn additional job-specific applications and procedures.
- Must be able to operate a computer, copy machine, phones and 2-way radios.
- Ability to problem solve, remain calm and professional under pressure.
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
- Must demonstrate ability to bend, kneel, handle, reach, grasp and perform repetitive motions.
- Work is subject to frequent interruptions making continuity and accuracy difficult.
WORK SCHEDULE
- Graveyard shift, midnight to 8AM
- 4 days a week
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Must be prepared to arrive early and/or stay at Snowbird longer than normal shift scheduling, if necessary, on occasional times of road closures.
- May experience unusual stress from continual work with public, winter conditions, snow night requirements and commuting to/from Snowbird.
- Must demonstrate ability to bend, kneel, handle, reach, grasp and perform repetitive motions.
- Must be able to sit for long periods of time.
- Work is outdoors and requires constant exposure to cold and other extreme weather conditions.
- Work is subject to frequent interruptions making continuity and accuracy difficult, frequent exposure to noise.
- Direct and continuous contact with co-workers, management, and other departments.
- Must have the ability to interact at any time with guests and other employees in a pleasant manner and maintain good working relationships with others and all departments at Snowbird.
