Public Affairs Specialist
ROLE
We need an experienced Public Affairs Specialist at the Defense Contract Management Agency (DCMA). This role supports public affairs, strategic communications, and industry outreach for the Blue UAS Cleared List Program, which reviews and approves commercial drone systems for use by the military and other government agencies, engaging closely with the drone manufacturing industry. In this role, you will assist the Government in implementing strategic communications and outreach materials, develop multimedia products including photography, videography, and graphic design, and support industry days, conferences, and other public engagements. RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Supports Government public affairs, strategic communications, stakeholder engagement, and industry outreach activities for the Blue List Program
  • Assists the Government in implementing strategic communications, public messaging, outreach materials, and digital communications
  • Develops multimedia products, including professional photography, videography, graphic design, presentations, digital content, technical articles, and social media content
  • Assists in planning, coordinating, and supporting industry days, conferences, workshops, demonstrations, and other outreach activities, including event logistics and promotional materials
  • Prepares briefing materials, talking points, speeches, presentation materials, fact sheets, and newsletters to support Government leadership during internal and external engagements
  • Monitors communication metrics and public engagement activities and provides recommendations to improve the effectiveness of Government communication strategies

BACKGROUND/REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor's degree in Public Affairs, Communications, Journalism, Marketing, Public Relations, or a related field, or a minimum of five (5) years of verifiable experience supporting public affairs, strategic communications, multimedia production, or outreach
  • Demonstrated experience planning, coordinating, and supporting conferences, industry days, workshops, or trade shows, including event scheduling, logistics, and promotion
  • Demonstrated experience developing written communications, multimedia products, digital content, and presentations using industry standard software applications

LOCATION
  • San Diego, CA – DCMA Facility

CLEARANCE
  • Active or interim DoW security clearance; favorably adjudicated Tier 3 background investigation required
  • Must be a US Citizen

CLIENT
  • Defense Contract Management Agency (DCMA), Unmanned Systems-Experimental (US-X) command

HOURS
  • 40 hours per week
  • 8 hours per day

EMPLOYMENT CLASSIFICATION
  • Employment Classification Eligibility – W2

RELOCATION
  • Not eligible for relocation benefits

COMPENSATION
  • Salary range: $80,000 – $115,000

Other Considerations: This position is W-2 only; no Corp-to-Corp or 1099 candidates. Relocation will not be offered. This position requires access to Department of Justice facilities and systems. As a condition of employment, selected candidates must complete and receive favorable adjudication from a federal government background investigation as required by the U.S. Department of Justice. Individual’s primary workstation is located in an office area. The noise level in this environment is low to moderate. Regularly required to sit for extended periods up to 80% of the time; frequently required to move about to access file cabinets and use office equipment such as PC, copier, fax, telephone, cell phone, etc. Occasionally required to reach overhead, bend, and lift objects of up to 10 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include the use of computer monitor screens up to 80% of the time.
 

Skills Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Public Affairs, Communications, Journalism, Marketing, Public Relations, or a related field, or at least five years of verifiable relevant experience
  • Experience planning, coordinating, and supporting conferences, industry days, workshops, or trade shows, including scheduling, logistics, and promotion
  • Experience developing written communications, multimedia products, digital content, and presentations using industry-standard software applications
  • Must be a U.S. citizen
  • Active or interim Department of War security clearance
  • Favorably adjudicated Tier 3 federal background investigation
  • Ability to complete and receive favorable adjudication from a federal government background investigation
