The Public Affairs Specialist supports the development and execution of AAA’s public affairs, advocacy, and community engagement strategies. This role works cross-functionally to advance organizational priorities, strengthen relationships with key stakeholders, and support initiatives across traffic safety, public policy, and community programs.
Key Responsibilities
Support development and execution of public affairs and advocacy initiatives aligned with organizational priorities
Coordinate with internal business units to advance programs, campaigns, and strategic initiatives
Build and maintain relationships with external stakeholders, including community organizations, transportation partners, and government contacts
Assist in planning and execution of events, community outreach efforts, and stakeholder engagements
Provide support for communications efforts, including drafting materials, briefing documents, and internal updates
Monitor legislative, regulatory, and community developments relevant to AAA priorities and identify engagement opportunities
Track and report on program activity, partnerships, and outcomes to support team objectives
Collaborate across public affairs, government affairs, marketing, and business line teams to ensure alignment
Contribute to traffic safety and community-based programs that support AAA’s mission

Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Affairs, Public Policy, or related field
4-6 years Corporate Communications or Public Relations
Experience in public affairs, government relations, community engagement, or communications-related roles
Demonstrated ability to support cross-functional initiatives and stakeholder engagement
Strong organizational and time management skills with ability to manage competing priorities
Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
Preferred Experience
Exposure to public policy, legislative processes, or regulatory environments
Experience supporting community programs or external partnerships
Familiarity with transportation, traffic safety, or advocacy initiatives
