The Public Affairs Manager will provide essential support to the Public Affairs team in managing stakeholder relationships, monitoring policy developments and ensuring effective communication with internal and external audiences. The role involves fostering relationships with key stakeholders, helping Capita achieve its public affairs objectives and driving a positive reputation with political audience.

What you will be doing:
Policy Analysis and Advocacy:
- Monitoring and analyse legislative, regulatory, and political developments relevant to Capita.
- Preparing briefings and summaries on policy issues impacting the organisation.
- Develop and execute advocacy strategies to influence public policy in alignment with organisational goals.
Stakeholder Engagement:
- Building and maintaining relationships with government officials, policymakers, industry associations, and other stakeholders.
- Assisting in coordinating meetings, events and communication with key stakeholders including government officials, industry groups and NGO’s
- Representing the organization at meetings and events.
- Developing partnerships and coalitions to support public affairs objectives.
Strategic Communication Support:
- Drafting correspondence, reports and presentations for internal and external use.
- Managing projects and submitting annual company reports to the Government.
- Collaborate with the communications team to align messaging for public affairs campaigns.
- Manage crisis communications related to public affairs issues.
- Managing MP casework enquiries, ensuring cases are directed to.
- Maintain close partnering relationships with external PA/PR agencies in relation to major corporate messaging.
Research and Administrative Support
- Provide administrative support to the Public Affairs team, including scheduling meetings, preparing agendas and taking minutes.
- Conducting research on policy topics, industry trends and stakeholder positions to inform strategy and decision making.
What we are looking for:
- A degree or equivalent in Politics, Public Policy, Communications, or a related field is essential
- Solid experience in public affairs, government relations, communications, or a similar role
- Knowledge of the political and legislative landscape relevant to Capita.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with CRM or stakeholder management tools.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor messages for diverse audiences.
- Strong ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines.
- High level of accuracy in drafting documents and managing data.
- Ability to build and maintain relationships with a variety of stakeholders.
- Proficiency in gathering, analysing, and presenting information clearly and concisely.
- Flexibility to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
