Position Title: Part Time Police Telecommunications Officer

Position Summary
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Serving as primary contact for the BC community needing police/security assistance via multi-modal communications, including radio, telephone, Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) system, electronic record management systems (RMS), and e-mail;
- Receiving, evaluating and transmitting law enforcement and security personnel emergency and non-emergency information through a public safety radio communications system to promote a timely, proper police and/or security response;
- Entering all pertinent real time data concerning calls for service, officer assignment and patrol activity into a Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) system and/or the national, state and local criminal data bases;
- Serve as communications link between BC and other county and/or municipal public safety agencies;
- Receive, evaluate, and disseminate information received via the Texas Law Enforcement Telecommunications System (TLETS), the National Crime Information Center (NCIC), the Texas Crime Information Center (TCIC), the Southeast Texas Information Center (SETCIC), and local Criminal Justice/Law Enforcement databases in and accurate and timely manner;
- Monitors campus safety personnel, campus property and daily activities on campus utilizing video surveillance equipment;
- Performs multiple tasks concurrently while working in a potentially intense, stressful, and fast paced environment, while maintaining professional, poised, positive, and calming demeanor.
Minimum Qualifications
• High school or GED graduate;
• Will be required to pass a drug and alcohol test prior to employment;
• Able to pass state mandated psychological exam;
• Must obtain Valid basic telecommunicator certificate from the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE);
• Ability to multitask, coordinate simultaneous mental, manual, and visual activities in a fast-paced work environment;
• Ability to observe situations analytically and objectively, and relay observed details in a prompt and accurate manner;
• Ability to communicate effectively in English with a diverse population.
• Punctuality and regular attendance are required;
• Willingness to work a flexible shift schedule.

Skills Required
