POSITION SUMMARY:
There are four primary of objectives for the position of Intern in Psychology at the Center for Multicultural Training in Psychology (CMTP).
While training in CMTP the intern will:
(1) Receive supervised experiences in traditional psychological techniques appropriately modified for working cross-culturally with socially, economically and politically disadvantaged clients.
(2) Increase his/her knowledge of and sensitivity to aspects of behavior associated with cross-cultural and transcultural experiences which are involved in mental health, mental illness and recovery.
(3) Develop and achieve the highest level of proficiency in those skills traditionally associated with the profession of psychology;.
(4) Train in the culturally competent practice of professional psychology consistent with the APA scientist-practitioner model. Interns are required to work a five-day workweek.
This consists of 1-2 days per week in an outpatient setting, 2-3 days per week in an inpatient setting and 1 day per week for didactic seminars and primary supervision at CMTP.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Interns are required to receive a minimum of four (4) hours of supervision per week, of which two hours must be individual supervision and the remaining two hour can be individual supervision or groups no larger than three. Supervision must be provided by licensed psychologists.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Functions as primary clinicians responsible for the overall coordination of treatment for a caseload of patients. Provides:
Psychological assessments,
Psychological testing
Behavioral treatment planning,
Risk assessments, and
Consultation to the therapeutic milieu.
QUALIFICATIONS AND ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS:
Interns are required to have completed all coursework and comprehensive examinations for their doctoral degree in Clinical or Counseling Psychology by the start of the internship year.

COMPENSATION RANGE: $17.00 - $18.00/hr.
