The Prospect Researcher supports the office of Institutional Advancement and its frontline fundraisers by identifying and analyzing potential donors to inform strategic outreach and engagement. This role involves conducting research on individuals to identify their capacity to give. Using internal data, this position will work with the Alumni Relations team to create engagement scores for routine analysis of our alumni. This position combines strong analytical skill with discretion and attention to detail to provide actionable insights that help drive fundraising success and alumni engagement.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

● Conduct in-depth research on individuals, to evaluate capacity, philanthropic interests, and gift potential.

● Prepare detailed donor profiles, bios, and briefings, to be used by university leadership at meetings and events.

● Proactively identify new major, annual, and planned gift prospects using internal and external data resources.

● Update and maintain prospect records in Raiser’s Edge.

● Lead prospect management meetings for frontline fundraisers.

● Distribute prospect pipeline reports monthly and develop other reports as necessary.

● Monitory research trends to stay informed and ensure ethical and legal compliance with all research activities.

● Using existing data, source board of trustee candidates and honorary degree recipients.

● Partner with frontline fundraisers to develop identification, cultivation and solicitation strategies.

● Collaborate with the office of Alumni Relations to analyze alumni data to create an engagement score that can be refreshed routinely.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS

This position reports to the: Director of Advancement Operations. This position may contribute in supervising 1-2 student workers.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND KEY COMPETENCIES

● Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite.

● Strong writing skills.

● Proficient in gathering, analyzing, and interpreting data.

● Ability to maintain confidential information and to foster trust among donors and prospects.

● Keen attention to detail.

● Working knowledge of email, word processing and spreadsheet applications (Excel, Word, Gmail).

● Working knowledge of database structures.

● Strong collaboration and communication skills.

● Outstanding organization and time management skills.

MINIMUM EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

● Bachelor’s degree required

● Minimum 2+ years working in fundraising

● Minimum 2+ years working in Raiser’s Edge or a similar CRM.

● Minimum 2+ years professional experience using Microsoft Office and Google suites.

● Minimum 2+ years working in a professional office setting.

● Strong interpersonal skills

PREFERRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

● Experience with Raiser’s Edge software

● Experience with the Research Point and other wealth screening platforms

WORKING CONDITIONS / EQUIPMENT

Must be able to perform the following essential functions with or without a reasonable accommodation:

● Must be able to work on a computer for extended periods of time

● Ability to lift at least 25 lbs. on an occasional basis

● Ability to travel on and off campus locations

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

● This is an in-person, full time, 1.0 FTE, non-exempt position, 12 months a year.

Compensation and Benefits:

Pay Range: $28.85 - $31.25 hourly
