Description

Prepares and distributes quotations for products, new equipment and rerates/retrofits, in response to inquiries from customers, engineers, contractors, sales representatives and service technicians.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Communicates with customers, sales representatives and internal Merrick functions (Projects Team, Engineering, Finance, R&D, Manufacturing, Customer Support, etc.) as required to affirm product, system, and schedule needs to prepare the quotation and/or commit to customer's requirements. 
  • Follows up on open proposals with customers and sales representatives while assisting in negotiating and closing sales orders.
  • Responsible for reconciling orders with the necessary information to allow projects team to manage the order and engineering to prepare customer drawings and manufacturing releases.
  • Participates in planning, setting up, and manning trade shows for the associated market segment sales group as required.
  • Occasional travel to customer sites and trade shows to support sales activities.
  • Assists with coordination of field training support for new sales representatives. 
  • Participates in special projects between Sales, Customer Service, and Engineering.
  • Reviews customer purchase orders and contracts for commercial requirements and works with internal departments to resolve issues.
  • Checks estimates versus actual costs on a monthly basis.
  • Functions in a workplace of dignity and respect for all.
  • Functions as a team member and gets along with others.

  • Ensure compliance with Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA).
  • Reports for work on time as scheduled and ready to perform.
  • Performs other similar or related duties as directed, assigned or as necessary to accomplish the department’s objectives in an effective manner.

SAFETY AND ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIRMENTS

  • Accountable for all concerns within their scope of work and has the absolute responsibility to remedy, report and/or communicate any issue to managers, supervisors, safety or environmental managers as appropriate.
  • Follows all safe work practices, watches out for fellow workers, and keeps their work area clean. 
  • Ensures area remains compliant regarding hazardous waste, non-hazardous waste and universal waste.
  • The following personal protection equipment is required and must be worn while working in the manufacturing facility or customers’ facilities: 
  1. Company approved safety glasses or goggles
  2. Company approved steel ESD toe shoes.
  3. Appropriate hand protection.
  4. Ear protection in designated areas.
  5. Appropriate clothing.
  6. Other safety equipment as required.

  • EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Strong math skills including percentages, ratios, unit conversions, and cost calculations.
  • REASONING ABILITY: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • COMPUTER AND SOFTWARE SKILLS: Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word and Excel), Experience with Salesforce, AutoCAD, Inventor. Visual Manufacturing, drafting and/or CAD experience related to mechanical design considered a plus, but not required. 
  • EQUIPMENT: Computer and other general office equipment.
  • CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: None required.

  • The employee is normally exposed to normal office atmospheres and conditions. 
  • On the occasion when the employee visits a customer site the employee may be exposed to areas that require additional personal safety equipment such as hard hat, hearing protection and respiratory protection.
