About the role


Avalere, part of Avalere Health, is a leading healthcare strategic advisory firm focused on the intersection of business strategy, public policy, and patient access. Based in Washington, DC, Avalere works with a diverse range of clients spanning pharmaceuticals, biotech, health plans, government, providers, advocacy and patient groups, and other organizations who seek to improve the healthcare system. Avalere is seeking a Proposal Development Manager (PDM) to join our Client Solutions practice, the function that drives sales, business development, and revenue generation activities across the firm. The PDM will be responsible for managing the end-to-end proposal development process, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, competitive proposals that effectively communicate our value proposition to prospective clients.

 

 

Responsibilities

· Lead and manage the proposal development process from initial opportunity or RFP/RFI identification to final submission.

· Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including business development, subject matter experts, and senior leadership, to coordinate their engagement in developing compelling proposals.

· Develop proposal strategies, outlines, and schedules to ensure timely and compliant submissions.

· Write, edit, and proofread proposal content to ensure clarity, consistency, and alignment with client requirements.

· Coordinate and conduct proposal reviews, incorporating feedback and ensuring continuous improvement.

· Develop and maintain a repository of proposal content, templates, and best practices to streamline future proposal development.

· Track and analyze proposal outcomes to identify areas for improvement and inform future strategies.

· Stay current with industry trends and best practices in proposal management and healthcare consulting.

 

Key Performance Indicators

1. Proposal Win Rate

 a. Percentage of proposals that result in successful bids versus those that do not.

 b. Total value of contracts won as a result of successful proposals.

2. Proposal Quality

 a. Quality ratings and feedback from clients on submitted proposals.

3. Efficiency and Timeliness

 a. Average time taken to develop and submit a proposal from RFP  receipt to submission.

b. Frequency of proposals requiring significant revisions due to errors or omissions.

4. Team Feedback

 a. Feedback from cross-functional teams (e.g., sales, subject matter experts, leadership) on the PDM’s collaboration and communication effectiveness.

5. Content Development and Management

 a. Effectiveness and frequency of using and updating proposal content repositories and templates.

 b. Introduction of new strategies, tools, or processes that enhance proposal development.


About you


· Bachelor's degree (and/or equivalent years of experience).

· Working knowledge of healthcare issues and the life sciences industry.

· 5+ years experience in proposal development, preferably within the healthcare consulting industry.

· Proven track record of managing and winning complex proposals.

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a keen eye for detail.

· Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple proposals simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.

· Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and proposal management software.

· Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and build strong working relationships.

· Knowledge of healthcare industry trends, regulations, and challenges is highly desirable.

· Experience in preparing and proofing documents for senior-level audience

· Demonstrated ability to be flexible in a fast-paced environment

· Strong ability to multi-task and can prioritize work streams effectively under deadline, with timely execution and resolution of action items

· Highly organized with strong project management skills.

· Exceptional communication skills

· Ethical, confident, and creative, with a persistent "can do" attitude

· Commitment to working in a team environment with an emphasis on collaboration and maintaining positive relationship with colleagues and clients to achieve solutions-oriented goals

· Proactive mindset and approach, ability to think several steps ahead of known client and teammate needs, and suggest improvements to existing processes

· Open to feedback and learning; willing to coach and teach others

· Experience managing multiple initiatives/work streams simultaneously preferred

· Advanced Microsoft Office skills such as PowerPoint, Excel, and Word
