Prompt Engineer - Deals & Forecast

As a Prompt Engineer, you will play a critical role in shaping the behavior and capabilities of Gong's AI. You will move beyond basic prompt design to architect advanced, multi-agent systems, collaborating closely with product teams, data scientists, and engineers to understand user needs and translate them into effective, scalable AI workflows.

You'll Own

• Advanced Prompt Engineering: Design and develop highly optimized prompts for a wide range of applications, including text generation, question answering, rating, sentiment analysis, and summarization.
• Performance Analysis & Iteration: Continuously analyze and iterate on prompts and agent behaviors based on performance metrics, evaluation frameworks, and user feedback to ensure high-quality, reliable outputs.
• Experimentation & Research: Conduct systematic experiments to test new prompting techniques, benchmark agentic workflows, and integrate updates based on the latest advancements in NLP and Generative AI.
• Technical Documentation: Create clear, concise, and structured documentation of prompt architectures, system behaviors, and testing methodologies, effectively communicating your work to both technical and non-technical audiences.

You'll Solve

• Building Intelligent Agent Experiences: Solving complex challenges around LLM reasoning and agent logic to enable Gong AI to answer complex questions and deliver accurate, context-aware assistance.
• Translating User Needs into AI Workflows: Bridging the gap between user requirements and technical execution by designing prompts and agent architectures that directly improve the end-user experience.
• Optimizing Reliability at Scale: Reducing hallucinations, improving output consistency, and ensuring that agentic systems perform reliably across millions of dynamic customer interactions.
• Staying Ahead of the Curve: Continuously adapting internal systems to leverage the rapidly evolving landscape of LLMs and AI research.

How You'll Succeed Here

• Proven experience as a Prompt Engineer, AI Engineer, or in a similar role focused on LLMs and Generative AI.
• Hands-on experience designing and building architectures for AI agents and multi-agent workflows (e.g., using frameworks like LangChain, AutoGen, or similar).
• Deep understanding of modern AI approaches, including Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), few-shot prompting, chain-of-thought, and LLM evaluation methods.
• Familiarity with natural language processing (NLP) concepts and the ability to stay up to date with the latest AI research.
• Strong analytical skills with a proven track record of designing experiments, analyzing prompt performance, and iterating based on data.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams (Product, Data Science, Engineering) and explain complex concepts simply.
