Position Overview
Virtual and augmented reality are transforming design and creation through new immersive and collaborative experiences that will impact how major segments like entertainment, architecture, engineering, construction, and manufacturing converge. The industry is being transformed by XR technology growth, creating new ways of working to review, collaborate and create.
As a Technical Program Manager, you will be part of the team responsible for building and delivering XR workflows to the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction industry (AEC). This multi-disciplinary team is operating in a start-up mode within Autodesk with autonomy on product, of course, but also sales, strategy, marketing, and operations. In this role, you will ensure our product team meets their goals on time by iteratively attaining deliverables, identifying risks, and collaborating with internal and external partners.
Do you have a passion for transforming teams and organizations to deliver large and innovative products? You want to be part of a swift and mighty team delivering meaningful customer value with XR and cloud technologies, and shape the future of XR for Autodesk? If so, we want to talk with you.
Responsibilities
- Plan and ensure continuous product delivery. Work with product leadership and teams to define product requirements and release goals, and build a continuous delivery plan. You will monitor the team progress as Scrum Master for 3 Squads each composed of Product Management, Engineering, and Design.
- Coach product leadership and teams in adopting agile practices, demonstrating their value through tangible results, and empowering every team member to contribute to the product's success and facilitate coordination across teams.
- Continuously monitor and communicate product progress to product leadership and teams, tracking key metrics (e.g., OKRs, velocity, tech debt), identifying risks, potential blockers, and highlighting release tradeoffs (e.g., time vs. scope).
- Communicate and coordinate with internal and external partners, ensuring alignment of priorities, dependencies, and deliverables, with the product and other projects in the larger program. This includes managing projects that are outside our Agile Squads.
- Be an agent of change for the organization and its development practices. Your initial responsibility is to ensure product delivery by working closely and coaching the team; however, as the team matures, your long-term focus should be on improving the organization and its development practices to scale and contribute to the larger program.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or similar field, or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years' experience driving software development projects, as a Technical Program Manager, Technical Product Manager, Tech Lead or similar role.
- Extensive experience working directly with software engineering teams on highly complex initiatives involving multiple stakeholders.
- In-depth knowledge and practical experience with Agile methodologies, Scrum framework, and associated tools (JIRA, Product Board, etc.).
- Experience with modern software development practices (e.g., CI/CD, TDD, automation, feature flags, code reviews, merging practices).
- Familiarity with either 3D real-time technologies (e.g., Unreal, Unity, XR), or cloud technologies (e.g., Go, Typescript, AWS).
- Ability to communicate effectively with a broad audience.
- Zeal for process and operational excellence.
- Desire to continuously learn and experiment.
- Ability to work in a start-up fashion even within a big company (things will move fast).
About You
- You have a strong technical background and adeptly apply systems-thinking to solve complex problems.
- You are data-driven and have the ability to instill a sense of urgency and influence the entire team.
- You effectively collaborate across organizations with different disciplines, including Software Engineers, Product Designers, Product Managers, QA Engineers, etc.
- You are responsive, flexible, and accountable.
