About the Role
Uber is looking for a Staff Technical Program Manager (TPM) to join our Tech Wide Programs initiative to drive strategic partner integrations across Uber's family of products. The TPM will play an important role in aligning Uber's Business Development and platform engineering initiatives - fueling growth throughout Uber's businesses.

What the Candidate Will Need / Bonus Points
What the Candidate Will Do:

  • Structure and drive large sophisticated cross-team technical initiatives for the company's Business Development activities supporting critical programs and various technologies.
  • Connect and orchestrate the end-to-end technical work you're doing by all technology and non-tech teams, including Product Platform, Compliance, Privacy, Safety, etc.
  • Create, lead, and implement the E2E testing effort for multiple integration efforts simultaneously.
  • Collaborate with product pillar teams and other key functions to ensure alignment and streamlined execution of multiple concurrent projects.
  • Understand end goals and formulate plans to meet those goals. Define Objectives and Key Results. Ensure broad agreement and alignment on them. Complete those plans, and ensure timely delivery.
  • Team-up with Eng leaders to drive solutions to highly technical problems.
  • Proactively remove obstacles to drive momentum and progress. Identify communication gaps, handle partner concerns and provide support to teams balancing contending priorities and get results proactively.
  • Help own the cross-functional strategic planning and business planning process, leading conversations with key stakeholders to develop concepts for strategic initiatives, and developing those into detailed program / project plans (including roadmaps, funding planning, resource planning and hiring goals).
  • Develop and champion positive relationships with our platform partners, energize the program teams to achieve targeted goals.
  • Continuously improve and scale the organization. Implement continuous improvements to the engineering organization and the program management process.
  • Share program/project process frameworks, tools, and standard methodologies that can be adopted throughout the organization. Improve product development and delivery.
  • Mentor project management skills within our engineering leadership team.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or Mathematics, related quantitative subject area, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Solid technical aptitude and an ability to understand technical designs, challenges, and risks.
  • Minimum 7 years experience as a TPM, EPM, or Engineering Manager or Engineer in a software, SaaS, or systems development environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MBA
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and exceptional emotional intelligence.
  • Strong cross-team and cross-org partner management. Ability to influence, empower, and align people across a broad variety of job functions through your relationships.
  • Strong organizational skills to prioritize projects without losing sight of the highest priority items. Be good at facilitating discussions.
  • Experience with technology mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, business development, and/or due diligence.
  • Analytical and truth seeking. Ability to understand sophisticated concepts and make reasoned decisions objectively.
  • Excellent in identifying process gaps, measuring progress, and balancing engineering and product efficiency with process overhead.
  • Experience with AWS and Google Cloud.
  • Experience with system level improvements in large scale systems - efficiency, reliability, performance, etc.
  • Validated leadership skills in a dynamic environment.
