Flint Hills Resources (FHR, a Koch Industries company) is looking for a contribution-motivated Senior Project Manager to join our IT Project Management Organization. In this role you will lead large strategic efforts contributing to a variety of business transformation initiatives starting from project conception through hands on delivery. This role will be accountable for the project execution planning needed for successful project delivery and managing cross-functional resources. This role will also play a key part in mentoring less experienced team members, assisting in their professional development, and continuously improving our Project Management capability.

This role is open to onsite candidates in Wichita, KS or remote candidates in locations within reasonable proximity to Wichita, Kansas, such as Oklahoma City, Tulsa, Kansas City, Corpus Christi, Dallas, Atlanta, etc. We are also considering candidates in close proximity to our Pine Bend, Minnesota refinery location.

What You Will Do In Your Role:

  • Aligning cross-functional, cross-organizational, and global teams to drive toward project commitments.
  • Lead through ambiguity and drive clarity from disparate information to inform actions and drive results.
  • Holding teams accountable to deliver business outcomes that meet the vision of transformation, while optimizing scope, costs, and schedule.
  • Focus on continuous improvement in project delivery and provide mentorship for less experienced project managers and/or project coordinators.
  • Leverage critical thinking and problem-solving skills to drive issue resolution, suggesting variations in approach, and facilitating decision making processes with stakeholders & leadership.
  • Effectively communicating the state of the project across various levels of the organization.
  • Ensuring the project team has clarity on objectives, scope, success criteria, and overall project execution approach.
  • Evaluating and understanding what resources are necessary for success and providing alternatives and recommendations to achieve.
  • Identify and model project management best practices in various methodologies.
  • Effectively utilizing each project team member to their fullest potential.


The Experience You Will Bring:

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience
  • 7-10+ years relevant IT project management work experience
  • 5+ years' experience in managing software development lifecycles
  • Proficient in both waterfall and agile methodologies
  • Experience managing technology projects with diverse stakeholders and business groups


What Will Put You Ahead:

  • Experience managing technology projects with multiple parallel efforts
  • Experience managing custom software development projects
  • Experience managing large projects teams including global team members
  • Experience managing technology projects focused on data analytics platforms, specifically in financial analysis
