Senior Program Management SpecialistCompany:The Boeing CompanyJob ID:00000269812Date Posted:2021-11-09-08:00Location:USA - Seal Beach, CAJob Description Qualifications: Boeing Defense Space & Security (BDS) has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Program Management Specialist in our Experimental Systems Group (ESG) located in Seal Beach, CA to support development of new first-of-kind space vehicles and missions.ESG supports a variety of government customers spanning technology domains, and is an extremely fast-paced, responsive development environment delivering new capabilities to customers rapidly and affordably. The ESG portfolio consists of a range of platforms and technologies including the X-37B, the world's first fully autonomous reusable spaceplane, which is currently on orbit flying its sixth and most ambitious flight yet.As a member of our program leadership team, you will join a diverse group of system architects and system and subsystem engineers. You will be expected to work in the area of program management leading coordination across all internal and external stakeholders to drive your assigned programs' development from early capabilities studies through demonstration.In this role, you will serve as a core point of contact for customers and will work directly with subject matter experts across the business to quickly iterate and converge on achievable solutions that meet our customers' needs. Our development timelines are aggressive and you will be asked to develop solutions to previously unsolved problems. You will work in multidisciplinary teams to bring concept of operations to fruition in support of our customers' mission objectives. You will work both as an individual contributor and as a team lead.An ideal candidate has a strong technical background across all spacecraft subsystems, a strong system background spanning both space and ground domains, and demonstrated program management skills. You will need to be able to dive into broad, minimally-defined design spaces and effectively lead integrated efforts.Position Responsibilities:

  • Lead program execution for one or more development programs
    • Lead cross-site multidisciplinary teams to rapidly take our customers' mission objectives from concept to demonstration
    • Manage and maintain the cost, schedule, requirements, TPM, and configuration baselines
    • Implement program management best practices, process improvements, and new and novel approaches to deliver industry-leading value
    • Manage development of first-of-kind space vehicles and missions
    • Partner with the Chief Engineer and Systems Engineering to execute system design, trades, analyses, design reviews, system integration, test, and sell off while ensuring technical integrity and quality.
  • Effectively build and manage relationships with customers, partners, consultants, peers, subcontractors, and suppliers
  • Prepare and present weekly and monthly status briefings to internal and external executive leadership
  • Work proactively and independently in a fast-paced, demanding atmosphere as both as an individual contributor and as a team lead
  • Develop solutions to previously unsolved problems as our development timelines are aggressive

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite in Seal Beach, CA.This position requires a current Tier 5 (T5), formerly known as a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) (U.S. Citizenship required)Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor's, Master's or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry
  • Experience in engineering project planning or project management
  • Experience in systems engineering to plan, design, develop and verify complex lifecycle balanced system solutions

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Minimum 5 years of systems engineer engineering, design, or production experience
  • Minimum 5 years of project management experience
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams and external customers
  • Experience in design, development, test, or manufacturing of spacecraft, launch vehicles, or highly autonomous unmanned systems
