Manager, Program & Project Management - Auto OEM Engineering
Overview
We are seeking a full-time Manager, Program and Project Management on our Automotive OEM Engineering team at our site in Cary, NC. In this role, you will be responsible for directing and coordinating activities of multiple Program Managers and Project Management teams that are responsible for managing the development, launch and maintenance of products for Auto OEM programs related to infotainment, telematics, and domain controllers.
Essential Functions
- Provide leadership and direct the activities of one or more Program Managers and teams of Project Managers
- Conceive, implement, and maintain processes and tools that improve the quality and scalability of the group's services to the engineering teams
- Identify, prioritize, and regularly review the objectives of both the group's projects, leaders, and individual contributors
- Balance assignments to distribute workload sensibly, while attempting to grow the capability and organizational strength of group members.
- Guide Team Leaders in the identification of resource needs to execute on those plans
- Evaluate associate's ability to manage programs and projects effectively
- Provide training and project management guidance to engineers and staff
- Establish and lead team members in developing objectives, timelines and milestones for internal and external staff working on projects and maintain schedules through development
- Ensure optimal communication with customers (internal and external as applicable)
- Participate in recruiting activities, interview, hire, train, and write/conduct performance evaluations for the team; mentor and guide new associates
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in a technical discipline AND a minimum of 10 years relevant project and program management leadership experience OR an equivalent combination of education and project/program management and leadership experience
- Experience working for an automotive OEM or Tier 1 supplier
- Experience managing programs like infotainment, telematics, digital cockpit, cabin electronics, rear seat entertainment, cluster and domain controllers
- Previous experience as a Program Manager
- Ability to manage project and program management resources
- Previous leadership /management experience managing teams that work toward hardware & software deliverables
- Excellent time management skills and ability to generate and support pragmatic solutions that meet Garmin's market launch requirements, while maintaining high quality standards
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with production, marketing, and engineering departments located internationally
Desired Qualifications
- Heavy software architecture knowledge
- Knowledge of engineering and manufacturing processes and documentation
- Active participation in the target market (automotive) and demonstrated passion for the products
