The Global Programs Advisor - Special Global Programs will share responsibility in the coordination, implementation and advising of study abroad programs specifically focusing on Special Global Programs including, but not limited to the Arrupe Global Scholars and Partnership Program; the undergraduate Global Scholars Program, short-term travel or immersion programs, and Creighton undergraduate study abroad programs.

The person in this position will assist in the coordination and logistics for Creighton University students participating in international study and immersion experiences - including travel arrangements, room and board arrangements, risk management program enrollment, pre-departure preparation, re-entry support, and more. Working as a part of the Global Engagement Office Study Abroad Team, the person in this position will work collaboratively to support students in all areas of global education.

The Global Programs Advisor is an important position that supports the Creighton University mission to educate global citizens and provide an integrating vision of the world through a comprehensive education that prepares students to contribute to the betterment of society in an increasingly complex world.

Bachelor's degree in related field and previous study abroad experience. Strong verbal, written, interpersonal and cross-cultural communication skills. Ability to handle multiple tasks with deadlines and strong attention to detail. Effective computer skills (e-mail, web design, spreadsheets, etc.).

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

This list is not exhaustive but represents the main responsibilities of the position. The study abroad duties distributed between two Global Programs Coordinators will be supported by the Global Programs Advisor in a manner that enhances efficiency of processes yet assures that all duties are covered at all times. The Global Programs Advisor will also provide administrative support to other divisions within the Global Engagement Office as needed.

  • Integrate Creighton's Ignatian mission and vision in all University-sponsored programs.
  • Support advisement and assistance of students for successful international service and study abroad experiences.
  • Support recruitment of Creighton University students for participation in all ILAC and ED programs;
    • Organize, advertise and conduct orientation meetings and informational meetings to recruit students as needed;
    • Process and track applications, student selection, and registration process;
    • Prepare acceptance communication and program packets for students.
  • Provide timely and accurate communication with students and other stakeholders through e-mail and phone communication, on-campus and virtual events, and support during experiences abroad as well as communication with parents when appropriate.
  • May assist in coordinating and/or overseeing the Study Abroad Peer Ambassador program.
  • Support special programming that supports internationalization of the Creighton campus, such as cross-cultural education events, International Education Week, etc.
  • Manage study abroad program-specific responsibilities and administrative duties as assigned.
  • Provide administrative support to other divisions within the Global Engagement Office as needed.
  • Perform related duties as required.
