The Role

As an Agile Project Manager (APM) at Circulo Health, your main goal is to help people and projects be successful. Your responsibilities include: owning the implementation backlog for feature teams and driving resource coordination, backlog grooming, and story refinement with Product and Engineering Managers; leading Agile rituals including sprint planning, stand-ups, retrospectives, and demo days, and; motivating Agile project teams toward high efficiency and continuous improvement. You will monitor and report on project performance by tracking team velocity and reflecting progress using burndown/burnup charts, and you will bring visibility to outcomes and achievements on a regular basis.

Who we are looking for

  • You have successfully implemented software projects using Agile methodologies including 4+ years of experience as a Project Manager with a solid understanding of software development life cycle models managing complex projects with cross-functional teams.
  • You have expert knowledge of both Agile and traditional project management principles and practices and the ability to blend them together when necessary to fit a project and business environment.
  • You have experience specifically with SCRUM/Agile methodologies with enterprise-level application development projects, and ideally you have PMI-ACP, CSM, or equivalent certification(s).
  • You have experience overseeing multi-function software development teams with 6-10 team members including front and back-end software engineers, data engineers and analysts, designers, and QA personnel, and you have a track record of ensuring objectives, goals, and commitments are met.
  • You have a sufficient level of technical background to provide highly-credible leadership to development teams and to be able to accurately and objectively evaluate complex project risks and issues.
  • You have strong analytical, planning, and organizational skills with an ability to manage competing demands, and you have a creative approach to problem-solving with the ability to focus on details while maintaining the “big picture” view.
  • You have strong interpersonal skills including mentoring, coaching, collaborating, and team building.
  • You have excellent oral and written communications skills and experience interacting with both business and IT individuals at all levels including the executive level.
  • You have experience in using appropriate project management tools, such as Jira, as well as visual presentation and productivity software including Miro, Figma, Lucidchart, Visio, MS Office and/or Google Suite tools.
  • BA or BS or equivalent experience is required; MA or MS is a plus

What you will do

  • As the APM, you will aim to achieve a high level of performance and quality across the projects you are managing, and your focus will be on delivering agile projects that provide exceptional business value to users by applying the following sets of capabilities:

What you will do (Project Planning & Management):

  • Work closely with product managers and technical leads to understand prioritized work, define project scope and schedule, and ensure work is estimated with acceptance criteria and/or definition of done.
  • Coordinate resources as required by the prioritized work plans, including requesting and tracking resources from matrix teams in coordination with team managers.
  • Organize and lead scrum rituals including stand ups, backlog grooming, sprint planning, retrospectives, demo and project status meetings, along with any emergent working meetings; 
  • Keep track of scrum performance metrics, and prepare and distribute progress reports; 
  • Manage risks and issues and correct deviations from plans.

What you will do (Team Management):

  • Assist in team development while holding teams accountable for their commitments, removing roadblocks to their work.
  • Leverage organizational resources to improve capacity for project work.
  • Participate in mentoring and developing team members in the context of delivering high-quality, high-value project outcomes.

What you will do (Product Management Support):

  • Support Product Managers/Owners in managing customer expectations for project deliverables, managing stakeholder communications, and helping to implement an effective system of project governance.
  • Maintain a tight communication loop with product and program managers to clarify any confusion on priority of work and inform of blockers that they should be aware of.

What you will do (Process Management & Improvement):

  • Help to refine, manage, and share a well-defined project management process.
  • Champion ongoing process improvement initiatives to implement best practices for Agile Project Management.
  • Lead retrospectives and ensure that the resulting feedback and learnings are distributed and acted upon in the spirit of continuous improvement.

  • Ensure that each team member is fully engaged in the project and making a meaningful contribution.
  • Encourage a sustainable pace with high-levels of quality for the team
  • Coach members of the team as needed to optimize the efficiency of the project team
