JOB SUMMARY
The Junior Project Engineer supports the successful planning, coordination, execution, and completion of engineering projects. Working under the guidance of a Project Manager or Senior Engineer, the role assists with project scheduling, technical documentation, stakeholder communication, procurement activities, and site coordination to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards. Based on industry-standard project engineering responsibilities and internal project delivery role expectations.
The Commissioning Engineer is responsible for all testing related activities including dead testing, live testing & relay / protection logic integration. This includes first startup and any subsequent fault finding and issue resolution. Engineers will be expected to travel and attend customer sites for all works including both Vertiv testing and Customer testing regimes. Engineer will be expected to act in a lead capacity both undertaking work and offering management / guidance to Vertiv local engineers and subcontractors
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Project Support
- Assist in the planning and execution of engineering projects.
- Support the development and maintenance of project schedules.
- Track project progress and report issues, risks, and delays.
- Assist in coordinating activities between engineering, procurement, logistics, and site teams.
- Maintain project documentation, records, and trackers.
Technical Coordination
- Review technical drawings, specifications, and engineering documents.
- Support the preparation of method statements, reports, and technical submissions.
- Assist with testing, commissioning, and handover activities.
- Ensure engineering deliverables meet project requirements and standards.
Site Activities
- Attend project and site meetings.
- Record meeting minutes and track actions.
- Assist with site inspections and progress monitoring.
- Support subcontractor and supplier coordination.
- Assist various specialist engineering functions with onsite activities (cabling, piping commissioning etc)
Commercial & Procurement Support
- Assist in obtaining quotations and managing purchase orders.
- Monitor material deliveries and equipment status.
- Support change management and cost tracking activities.
- Help maintain project budgets and forecasts.
Health, Safety & Quality
- Comply with company Health & Safety policies.
- Participate in risk assessments and site safety reviews.
- Support quality inspections and documentation control.
- Promote a positive safety culture on all projects.
Communication
- Liaise with clients, contractors, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.
- Provide regular progress updates to the project team.
- Build effective working relationships across departments.
Travel
The role includes extensive travel (circa 80%) within EMEA to support Project Deployment. Working with internal and external partners for the project lifecycle from implementation through to final closure.

QUALIFICATIONS / COMPETENCIES
Essential
- HNC/HND, Bachelor's Degree, or equivalent qualification in:

Desirable
- Knowledge of construction, M&E, industrial, or data centre environments.
- Relevant internship, placement, or engineering experience.
