We are looking for a Project Pursuit Manager to maximize the growth and profitability of Emerson’s Measurement Solutions business across Europe, with a particular focus on strategic greenfield and complex project opportunities in key industry segments like Chemical, Refining, Hydrogen, Power-to-X, and other emerging segments.

You will lead strategic pursuits throughout the full project lifecycle, including multi-year project phases where applicable. From early customer engagement and stakeholder value creation through proposal development and final negotiations, you will develop and execute pursuit strategies that differentiate Emerson and position us to win.

You will bring together sales, technical, commercial, project management, product management, marketing, and leadership resources to create compelling value propositions and effective winning strategies. You will also strengthen project pursuit excellence across Europe by coaching sales teams and sharing best practices.

This position can be based at any Emerson office in Europe, provided the successful candidate is located within reasonable travelling distance of a major international airport.

In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:

  • Identify and qualify greenfield and complex project opportunities, maintain an accurate opportunity funnel in the customer relationship management system, and provide timely input for reliable forecasting.
  • Develop and execute winning pursuit strategies for large, complex, and potentially multi-year projects, from early engagement through final negotiations and commercial agreement.
  • Build trusted relationships with key stakeholders, including end users, engineering and construction contractors, original equipment manufacturers, technology licensors, and strategic partners.
  • Form and lead cross-functional pursuit teams, establishing clear responsibilities, actions, accountabilities, and decision points throughout the pursuit.
  • Understand customer value drivers, project dynamics, decision-making processes, and competitive conditions to strengthen preference for Emerson’s differentiated solutions.
  • Create and communicate compelling project value propositions, engage technical specialists and executive sponsors, and identify opportunities to expand Emerson’s project scope.
  • Share industry-specific value messaging and lead project wave campaigns with sales, product management, and marketing, leveraging industry insights and customer profiles.
  • Coordinate with the Project Management Office and other functions to develop competitive proposal strategies, review specifications, assess risks, prepare bid business cases, and deliver winning proposals.
  • Develop pricing and negotiation strategies, anticipate and mitigate competitor activity, support commercially sound terms, and identify additional sales opportunities after the initial purchase order.
  • Coach project sales teams, share best practices, and provide feedback on project outcomes, business trends, customer engagement, process improvements, and growth opportunities.

Who You Are:

You understand how complex industrial projects develop and how stakeholder priorities and decisions can change throughout the project lifecycle. You are comfortable taking the lead in an environment involving multiple organizations, functions, interests, and decision-makers.

You build trusted relationships and use your understanding of the customer’s business to create solutions that deliver meaningful value. You connect technical capabilities with commercial outcomes and communicate effectively with technical, commercial, procurement, project, and executive audiences.

You bring structure and direction to complex pursuits without losing sight of changing customer needs or project dynamics. You collaborate effectively across functions and geographies, influence without relying on direct authority, and create clarity around actions and accountabilities. You also enjoy developing others and sharing knowledge that helps the wider team succeed.

For This Role, You Will Need:

  • Demonstrated success in consultative sales, strategic business development, project pursuit, or a related commercial role within a process, industrial, engineering, or technology environment.
  • The ability to identify and develop new customer relationships while strengthening established partnerships.
  • Experience coordinating complex opportunities involving multiple stakeholders, organizations, and decision points.
  • An understanding of how major industrial projects progress from early concept and engineering through procurement, construction, and execution.
  • Working knowledge of the operating models used by end users and engineering, procurement, and construction contractors.
  • The ability to influence and collaborate across functions and organizational levels, including without direct reporting authority.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to adapt messages for technical, commercial, and executive audiences.
  • Sound commercial judgment, including an understanding of pricing, negotiation, contracting approaches, risk, and value creation.
  • The ability to navigate ambiguity, competing priorities, and complex stakeholder environments.
  • Professional fluency in English.
  • A technical degree, vocational qualification, or equivalent knowledge gained through relevant professional experience.
  • Willingness and ability to travel across Europe and, when required, internationally, typically between 30% and 50% of working time.

Preferred Qualifications That Set You Apart:

  • Experience leading strategic pursuits for large, complex, or multi-year industrial projects.
  • Familiarity with measurement technologies, automation solutions, or other products and services used in the process industries.
  • Experience engaging during feasibility, front-end engineering, design, or pre-investment project phases.
  • A record of developing differentiated value propositions and achieving preferred-supplier, specification, or pre-selection status.
  • Experience developing project-based sales campaigns, pursuit playbooks, or account strategies.
  • Experience coaching commercial teams or facilitating capability-building activities.
  • Proficiency in one or more European languages in addition to English.
  • Practical experience using customer relationship management platforms, data insights, digital selling tools, or responsible artificial intelligence applications.
