The Project Manager is responsible for the full life cycle of electrical construction projects—from business development and pre-construction through design, estimating, planning, execution, safety, financial performance, and closeout. This role requires a proven track record of winning work and maintaining strong relationships with Owners, General Contractors, Vendors, and Subcontractors. The ideal candidate combines technical expertise with business and financial acumen to deliver projects that are safe, on time, and profitable.
1. Business Development

  • Develop, maintain, and strengthen strategic customer relationships to drive new business opportunities.
  • Represent the company at marketing and industry events.
  • Ensure exceptional customer satisfaction and repeat business.
2. Estimating
  • Oversee proposal development for customer submissions, ensuring all required components meet company standards (scope summary, inclusions/exclusions, assumptions, bid letters, and pricing).
  • Proactively identify and resolve estimating challenges by ensuring RFIs, bills of materials, and scope summaries are complete and accurate.
  • Ensure ongoing cost estimates are maintained throughout the project life cycle to align with actual performance.
  • Monitor system data and reports to track variances between the original estimate, approved change proposals, and actual costs.
  • Support accurate budget development, cost control, and profitability forecasting from pre-construction through completion.
3. Electrical Design
  • Provide conceptual direction for load analysis and one-line diagrams that meet project requirements.
  • Approve equipment selection and layout to ensure alignment with project needs and budget constraints.
  • Review redline drawings to confirm optimal electrical layout and adherence to specifications.
  • Apply electrical theory to resolve design issues and ensure all work meets applicable codes.
  • Identify opportunities for value engineering to enhance efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness.
4. Project Execution
  • Lead project kickoff meetings to communicate scope, strategy, and expectations.
  • Conduct job walks and site visits to address field issues and ensure alignment with project goals.
  • Monitor progress through project meetings and ensure timely issue resolution.
  • Oversee safety performance by reviewing audits and incident trends, taking corrective actions when needed.
  • Ensure timely and accurate completion of project closeout documentation.
  • Maintain responsibility for overall financial performance, including:
    • Budget management – Approve and track project budgets, change orders, and schedule of values.
    • WIP management – Review monthly Work in Progress (WIP) reports to accurately forecast job costs, margin, and revenue recognition with no fade.
    • Cost forecasting – Analyze financial performance and proactively identify risks or opportunities to improve profitability.
    • Billing and cash flow – Verify billings for accuracy, ensure positive cash flow, and assist with collections exceeding 60 days.
  • Manage subcontractor and vendor negotiations to ensure complete scopes and competitive pricing.
  • Drive overall project strategy to meet safety, quality, schedule, and financial goals.
  • Provide leadership and communication across project teams to ensure accountability and success.
5. Talent Development
  • Coach, mentor, and develop team members to strengthen project execution capabilities.
  • Build and manage a high-performing project team culture focused on collaboration and results.
  • Promote professional growth and leadership development among direct reports.
Knowledge (Facts and Principles Required for Success)
  • Strong mathematical and financial analysis skills.
  • Deep understanding of electrical theory, code, and construction methods.
  • Knowledge of general construction processes and project management principles.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Accubid estimating software.
  • Excellent communication (written, verbal, and presentation) and interpersonal skills.

Education & Experience
  • 8+ years of industry experience in electrical construction project management.


 

Skills Required

  • 8+ years of industry experience in electrical construction project management
  • Proven track record in business development and maintaining owner/GC/vendor/subcontractor relationships
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Accubid estimating software
  • Strong mathematical and financial analysis skills, including budget, WIP, and cost forecasting
  • Deep understanding of electrical theory, codes, one-line diagrams, and construction methods
  • Experience with estimating, RFIs, bills of materials, scope summaries, and change order management
  • Leadership skills to coach, mentor, and build high-performing project teams
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation communication and negotiation skills
  • Demonstrated ability to manage safety performance and project closeout documentation
