The Project Managers are the primary interface with our Customers and are empowered and expected to deliver a world-class customer experience to all the vessel owners and owners representatives involved. Overall responsibility of managing a superyacht or commercial vessel refit or repair project encompasses working in conjunction with the vessel owner’s rep, defining and interpreting the project work scope, scheduling and conveying technical information to boatyard trade supervisors and subcontractors for the purpose of assigning and scheduling labor to complete the work in a safe, efficient and high-quality manner. The Project Manager also works with the Contracts Department in the costing, drafting and execution of change orders.

Requirements

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist program and construction managers in managing project objectives, procedures, data collection methods, and performance standards.
  • Oversee budgetary, scheduling, and project databases, and report regularly to program managers and other departments on progress.
  • Manage and work closely with subcontractors, including engineering subcontractors, and vendors and coordinate deliverable, labor and material schedules.
  • Acting as primary point of contact with the Customer and communicating project status updates effectively
  • Compile and submit project schedules, logistics information, and status reports to customers.
  • Conduct regular meetings with customer to communicate project status, compliance with requirements, and risk assessment.
  • Review engineering drawings for the purposes of configuration management, ordering materials, and communicating tasks and clarification of drawing details to supervisors.
  • Administering every aspect of ship repair project including purchasing, planning and scheduling, production oversight, contractual modifications, final bill settling and invoicing.
  • Determining the scope of work package to establish the contract baseline, evaluating the ability of the production department to execute the work package and recommending modifications to the scope as needed.
  • Requesting, scheduling and approving all subcontracts and requests for temporary labor.

  • Must be reliable, detail oriented, with a high level of integrity.

  • Experience in the maritime industry and/or project management highly desirable
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related programs.

Education and/or Work Experience:

  • A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university
  • An Associates degree in any technical skill associated with ship repair plus minimum 4 years of progressively more complex work experience demonstrating the required ship repair and project management skills
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience comparable to the above
  • USCG Master/Mate/Engineer license a plus.
  • Proficient with AutoCad and Microsoft Project. 
  • The ability to demonstrate high proficiency in these areas.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Basic reading, writing and arithmetic skills are required
  • Familiarity with blueprints and drawings
  • Ability to read and interpret documents and instructions
  • Ability to take directions and follow instructions
  • Ability to perform work accurately and thoroughly
  • Ability to work a variety of assignments and locations on a daily or hourly basis
  • Strong ability to be reliable, dependable, and work as a team

Language Ability:

  • Ability to communicate effectively in English 

Reasoning Ability:

  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule

Physical Requirements:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job are medium/heavy in nature. 

  • Frequent standing, balancing, walking, climbing ladders or equipment, reaching above shoulder or out in front, manual dexterity, pushing, pulling, kneeling, bending, seeing, and hearing.
  • Physical ability to lift, push, pull and carry 40+ lbs., bend, stoop and climb.
  • While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle, feel, talk or hear. 
  • The vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • Works in all areas of the shipyard and on-board ships.
  • Hearing warning signals and reading and comprehending safety instructions. 
  • Must be able to maintain general safety awareness and avoid hazards commonly present in employee’s work area.

Skills Required

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university
  • 4 years of project management experience in the maritime industry
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, AutoCad and Microsoft Project
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • USCG Master/Mate/Engineer license
