The opportunity
Hitachi Energy's Grid Integration business unit has delivered more than 4,000 projects over the last 15 years. Our Grid Integration portfolio spans a wide range of transmission and substation applications, which facilitate reliable and efficient system integration of the future digital electric network with minimum environmental impact.
We incorporate the integrated systems, solutions and services of our business' DC and AC fields, including HVDC, Substations, FACTS, Grid and Power Quality solutions such as offshore wind connections, and Semiconductors. We offer Power Consulting for key segments in the energy system, such as renewables, transmission distribution and as well as e-transportation solutions.
How you’ll make an impact
You will lead the project team, establish the project execution approach and oversee project hand-over, execution planning, and monitoring and control activities for both internal and external resources to accomplish all project goals and define project plan documents, including scope and financial plans, schedule and risk management plans.
You will ensure that the project follows execution best practices and HAPG policies, effectively monitors and controls project progress and monitors project progress and regularly analyzes project critical paths to ensure all critical path activities and project milestones are progressed to the plan, notifies Operation Group Manager of any deviations or scheduling issues, and implements actions for optimizing resources.
You will issue progress reports, project updates and productivity data on a regular basis and prepare materials for and deliver project reviews also conduct analysis of plan versus actual project performance under the supervision of the Operation Group Manager.
You will monitor project cost, expenses and cash flow, monitors and manages requests for invoicing, based on project payment milestones also identifies, qualifies, quantifies and manages project risks, and ensures that all opportunities are identified and pursued.
You will capture, analyze and share lessons learned throughout the project and ensure that the project is formally closed out, as contractually agreed, drives the formal acceptance of the project, contract close-out and its acknowledgement by the customer.
You will ensure that the project consistently applies contract and claims management, in accordance with HAPG policies and contractual agreements also successfully provides all required services, materials and equipment for the project from external and internal suppliers.
You act as the key contact for the customer and an escalation point for project issues, builds and maintains strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders and effectively communicates with all stakeholders.
You will monitor and maintains various project registers – e.g. project transmittal register, issues & actions register, risk and opportunities register, deliverable & quality register, documentation register, etc., effectively communicates appropriate information to project team, customers and other stakeholders in a timely manner and to achieve desired understanding.
You will ensure the project follows and complies with company health, safety, and environmental policies, and ensure safe working procedures and practices are always followed including the wearing and maintenance of assigned Personal Protective Equipment as required, attendance required health, safety and environment training.
You will report injury, incidents, hazards and near miss events, model safe work behaviors in all aspects of work and actively identify hazards and risk controls.
You will support in projects are based in Japan but to be delivered by mixed Japan-based and international location-based teams – cultural, time zone and communication challenges can be expected, complex project commercial arrangements between Hitachi Energy Japan and Hitachi Energy international units regarding orders, margins and revenues.
You will support Behavioral & Leadership Competencies as such Leads teams with a focus on project deliverables, costs, and schedule, typically managing through first line managers mainly in function area. Focus balances leadership and subject matter expertise, Safety & Integrity – Management / Senior Specialists level, Customer Focus & Quality – Management / Senior Specialists level, Innovation & Speed – Management / Senior Specialists level, Ownership & Performance – Management / Senior Specialists level, Collaboration & Trust – Management / Senior Specialists level.
You will be responsible for ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.

Your background
You are atleast business level fluency in both English and Japanese.
You hold a bachelor’s degree or with 5 years’ experience in a similar role; preferably holds nationally and or internationally recognized project management training and certifications – e.g. PMP.
Required with 3-5 years in a similar role – e.g. Associate Project Manager, Project Manager, Project Coordinator, Project Engineer.
Proficient with MS Word and MS Excel; Proficient maintaining schedules for projects using recognized project scheduling tools; Proficient organizer; Ability to influence and coordinate stakeholders.
Project management for construction of the high voltage substation would be better.
Model safe work behaviors in all aspects of work and actively identify hazards and risk controls.
