Job Description
The role is based in Dubai (United Arab Emirates) and will support the growing Fugro business in Iraq. The Geotechnical Project Manager is expected to coordinate and manage land geotechnical investigations conducted for Oil and Gas infrastructure in Iraq. The successful candidate will be responsible of ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget, acting as leader to geotechnical teams in respect to projects, tasks and operations. The successful candidate will also be responsible of fostering and maintaining key relationships with existing and potential clients to improve the company’s market position.
Job Specific Requirements:
- Engineering degree, preferably Civil Engineering or technical qualifications in Geotechnical Engineering or Geology or related Earth Sciences.
- Minimum 5yrs+ in similar role including commercial, technical and practical project management experience in the geotechnical contracting industry.
- Ability to work effectively in a multi-national and multi-cultural work environment.
- Excellent verbal and written skills both internally and with Client (English is essential and Arabic is a plus).
- Keen Commercial awareness and contractual management experience is required.
Knowledge of Project Management Areas – project scope management, project time management, project cost management.
Collaborates closely with colleagues in the Project team, Operations department and Commercial team in-country and regionally to ensure projects are delivered successfully to meet Fugro and clients' expectations.

Key responsibilities
Project Planning
- Identify and communicate project requirements and resources.
-Schedule and allocate equipment and resources in line with specific project requirements.
- Preparation of project execution plans, method statements, schedules, QHSE plans and risk assessments to address stringent Client HSE and technical requirements in line with Company procedures
- Lead the compilation of technical/commercial proposals.
Project Execution
-Direct and manage all aspects of project development on key large projects, particularly oil & gas clients, from enquiry to delivery and close-out.
- Continuous communication and liaison with Clients, operations and laboratory departments, and other project stakeholders to ensure timely submission of deliverables and Client satisfaction.
- Scheduling and allocation of equipment and resources in line with specific project requirements.
- Attending and conducting regular internal/external technical project meetings, kick-off meetings and safety sessions.
Project Accounting
- Variation order tracking and identifying opportunities for additional scope of services.
- Project budgets, cash flows, cost tracking and forecasts.
- Monthly and quarterly reporting on project financials (actual vs budget).
- Preparation of project financial reports.
- Profit analysis on projects.
QHSSE Compliance
- Ensure that Fugro policies and procedures are understood, implemented and adhered to by all employees and stakeholders.
- Prepare project execution plans, method statements, schedules, QHSE plans and risk assessments to address stringent Client HSE and technical requirements in line with Company procedures.
KPIs
- Proper allocation and utilization of resources to meet project completion timelines.
- Completion of Project Milestones in a timely manner according to baseline.
- Collate, track and present project financial KPIs such as cost, recognized revenue, invoicing to always maintain contractual and financial control.

Experience and Knowledge
Education : Bachelor - Engineering degree – Civil Engineering in Geotechnical or Geology
Working experience : 5-10 years Commercial, Technical and Practical Project Management
Management experience : 1-5 years Project management experience
Languages & Proficiency : English Proficient
Other : Speaking Arabic is a plus.
