Job Description

We are looking for a detail-oriented and organized Project Manager within Hitachi Energy Transformer BU. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in driving our projects to success by supporting comprehensive project planning, coordination, and execution. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, track project milestones, and ensure deliverables are met on time and within budget. You will contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and help foster a culture of excellence while developing your own project management skills in a supportive and dynamic work environment.

Reporting to Director, Program Management Office - HUB North America, you will lead a multiple Data Center projects within the NAM Power Transformers Group, comprising multiple interrelated projects in partnership with one of our key strategic customers.  The projects are executed at various Hitachi Energy factories in our network.

Your responsibilities

  • Leading project teams, with clear guidelines, tasks, and milestones, while motivating and providing feedback.
  • Managing all aspects of the project to agreed-upon customer requirements and ensuring all technical, safety, quality and financial targets are met.
  • Act as the key contact for our customer and an escalation point for issues. Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders and effectively communicate with all those stakeholders.
  • Work closely with project cross-functional teams, Factory & Service project managers to plan and manage the overall scope, deliverables, required resources, work plan, budget, and schedules.
  • Identify key requirements needed from cross-functional teams and external vendors, allocate and coordinate tasks and activities, leveraging Hitachi Energy established best practices.
  • Overseeing the development of project plan documents in relation to scope, budget, schedule, and risk management.
  • Monitoring each stage of project implementation to ensure best practices in scope control, cost control, resource efficiency, risk management, health and safety, and the environment Identifying, analyzing, and mitigating project risks, with the regular sharing of lessons learned.
  • Coordinating contract negotiation and claims with customers, in collaboration with the Supply Chain and Legal functions.
  • Achieving project deliverables and compliance with contract requirements.
  • Building strong relationships with customers and stakeholders.

Your background

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, or Business Administration or equivalent, and a minimum 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Preferred PMP Certification through PMI
  • Candidate required to achieve the Hitachi Energy Project Management Certification within 2 years of hiring.
  • Candidate must already have work authorization that would permit them to work for Hitachi Energy in the United States.
  • Proven capability to coordinate and lead remote teams, working in different geographic locations.
  • Demonstrated experience in management of project scope, cost, schedules, quality, and vendors/subcontractors.
  • Sound knowledge of the Transformer Manufacturing and the North American energy sector is preferred.
  • Working knowledge and experience in SAP, MS Project, MS Excel, and other PM tools.
  • A collaborative, solutions-oriented approach, and strong communication skills.
  • International relocation will not be offered for this position.
  • Position is local to Hitachi Energy office in Raleigh, NC.
