Summary of the role:


Southwest Airlines (SWA) wants to be the world's most loved, most efficient, and most profitable airline. SWA is using our Amadeus solutions and to help them in their vision, we are developing new features in a competency center embracing multiple domains: 120 people from R&D, product management and delivery, over 8 business domains and over 4 sites.
SWA looks at Amadeus as a strategic partner and the role of Project Manager in SWA competency center is to match the business demand with our delivery capabilities, to maximize the competency center value for SWA and project new opportunities. For that the Project manager needs to build a strong relationship and trust environment with SWA.

You will lead the definition and planning phases of the SWA business programs inside the cross-functional competency center, including the definition and management of the related risks and dependencies
You will prepare and present recommendations to SWA customer for the best usage of the competency center to achieve their business objectives, based on their definition of priorities and the competency center capacity
You will monitor and control the resource plan and the resource utilization, using financial indicators to measure performances and report to business domain heads, including account and services
You will guide and support the stream leaders of the various business domains, recommending strategies and best practices, aligned with the competency center strategies
You will coordinate and propose options to solve complex issues, considering business / operational / revenues / quality impacts, presenting that to internal or external stakeholders
You will put and review the competency center processes in a scope of continuous improvement and customer satisfaction

In this role you'll:

  • Refine and finalize the Project scope statement as the basis for the future project decisions.
  • Support the projects assessments.
  • Estimate and identify resources.
  • Build and manage the Project Core Team.
  • Identify all activities necessary to produce all project deliverables.
  • Identify quality measures.
  • Evaluate project risks and propose mitigation actions.
  • Commit on scope, planning and budget.
  • Validate project plans.
  • Optimize and control overall project performance (schedule, budget and quality).
  • Raise alerts and find solutions.
  • Communicate and report to internal and external stakeholders

About the ideal candidate:

  • Masters or bachelor’s degree in computer science/Information Technology
  • Experience in managing IT team or large IT project required (5 years minimum)
  • Customer-facing role (5 years minimum)
  • Understanding of the airline industry is required. 
  • Understanding of Amadeus Altea suite is a plus.
  • Computing: Technical and functional awareness of Amadeus Altea suite
  • Languages: English fluency required
  • Advanced project management skills and methodologies (PMP certification)
  • Financial consolidation and reporting (cost monitoring, forecast analysis)
  • Excellent communication, including presentation skills
  • Agile models and practices (scrum, kanban, SAFe)
  • Strong team player, should put in place a collaborative and sharing framework in an open and multi-cultural environment
  • Accountability and proactivity skillset, positive outlook in meeting challenges
  • Innovative thinker within established framework
  • Ability to maintain a proactive and positive attitude in a fast paced, changing environment
