Job Description

The Role

As a Project Manager you will be responsible for the coordination and management of Professional Services delivery projects. This can take the form of oversight across a portfolio of smaller engagements, or hands-on and in-depth management of more strategic engagements, as the market demands. You will build positive relationships with customers and drive customer satisfaction, whilst aligning with all relevant members of the SUSE team including Technical Consultants and Sales teams – communicating effectively with internal and external Stakeholders at all levels. Additionally, you will need to have a good understanding of industry-standard best practices for a professional services organization and will play an integral part in implementing or improving processes and contributing your expertise to shaping the future growth of the Professional Services function in SUSE.

 

The primary responsibility of this position is to manage Professional Services projects from start to finish, overseeing all phases of the project, building customer relationships, and managing customer satisfaction.

This will support business growth in line with our ambitious objectives and company culture. 

Focus Areas 

  • Act as main point of contact for customers during their Professional Services engagements

  • Plan, schedule, staff, and monitor the activities outlined in the Statement of Work

  • Determine, monitor, and review all project economics to include costs, operational budgets, staffing requirements, resources, and risks

  • Prepare and provide customer status updates throughout the duration of the engagement

  • Contribute to the Forecast process with timely project updates

  • Provide expertise on best practices for project delivery

  • Develop relationships with the customer

  • Control project requirements, scope, and change requests

  • Communicate and enforce delivery policies and procedures

  • Manage customer satisfaction and escalate issues in a timely manner

  • Comply with company processes and guidelines and adapt to the changing needs of the business

  • Be able to articulate the key values of SUSE products, solutions, and strategy

Preferred Experience & Skills 

Must Have:

  • Experience with coordinating the delivery of technical projects, including management of a dynamic portfolio of engagements which are ongoing simultaneously

  • Certification or equivalent experience in managing projects using Agile methodologies

  • Clear written and verbal communication skills, able to interact with stakeholders at all levels

  • Used to working internationally - with customers & colleagues in a variety of countries

  • Proven ability to problem solve creatively

  • Skilled in time management

  • Skilled in conflict resolution

  • Highly Organized

Nice to have: 

  • Experience with Google Workspace

  • Awareness and understanding of the Open Source software industry

  • Background in working with software defined infrastructure platforms

  • High-level technical knowledge in one or more of the following areas: SUSE Rancher and/or Kubernetes based platforms, SUSE Linux Enterprise and/or Enterprise Linux Operating Systems

  • Comfortable in a fast-paced environment in which change is constant – proven ability to be flexible and adaptive

This position is subject to a background check(s), including criminal, credit, and/or employment references. The candidate is required to complete the background check(s) once an offer has been accepted. This will be conducted by SUSE’s external provider, where legally permitted.
