Company Overview

Kairos Power is a new nuclear energy technology and engineering company whose mission is to enable the world’s transition to clean energy, with the ultimate goal to dramatically improve people’s quality of life while protecting the environment. This goal will be accomplished through the commercialization of the fluoride-salt-cooled, high-temperature reactor (FHR) that can be deployed with robust safety, affordable costs, and flexible operation to accommodate the expansion of variable renewables.

Job Summary 

The Project Manager will oversee a large-scale project through the Advanced Reactor Demonstration Program(ARDP) in collaboration with the Department of Energy (DOE). This position requires strong leadership, project management skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with the National Laboratories under the purview of the DOE.

Responsibilities

  • Project Planning and Execution:
    • Develop and implement comprehensive project plans, timelines, and budgets in alignment with DOE guidelines and objectives.
    • Coordinate project activities, ensuring adherence to schedules and milestones.
    • Monitor project progress and performance metrics, addressing any deviations promptly.
    • Mitigate risks and resolve issues that may arise during the project lifecycle.
  • Stakeholder Management:
    • Establish and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders within the Department of Energy, including program managers and other relevant personnel.
    • Collaborate closely with National Laboratories involved in the project, fostering productive partnerships and facilitating effective communication.
    • Serve as the primary point of contact for stakeholders, addressing inquiries and providing regular updates on project status and outcomes.
  • Team Leadership and Coordination:
    • Lead a diverse team of professionals involved in various aspects of the project, including researchers, engineers, and administrative staff.
    • Provide guidance, support, and direction to team members, ensuring clarity of roles and responsibilities.
    • Foster a collaborative and inclusive team environment, promoting innovation and excellence in project delivery.
  • Compliance and Reporting:
    • Ensure compliance with all relevant DOE regulations, policies, and procedures throughout the project lifecycle.
    • Prepare and submit regular progress reports, financial statements, and other documentation as required by the DOE and project stakeholders.
    • Coordinate audits and reviews to assess project performance and adherence to compliance standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Science, Business Administration, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • Proven experience in project management, particularly in large-scale initiatives involving government agencies or research institutions.
  • Strong understanding of Department of Energy policies, regulations, and procedures.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with diverse stakeholders and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage budgets, timelines, and resources efficiently while maintaining high-quality project outcomes.
  • Familiarity with project management tools and software for planning, tracking, and reporting purposes.

  • Accessing the accuracy, neatness and thoroughness of the work assigned
  • High-concentration, demanding and fast-paced

Safety and PPE 

  • Reading and interpreting hazardous warning signs
  • Reporting issues with equipment or unsafe conditions

Travel

  • Some travel may be required, up to 20% 

Additional Requirements

  • Occasionally requires schedule flexibility
  • Occasionally requires extended hours to support launch and critical project timelines
