The Project Manager delivers projects across capital water infrastructure including valves, hydrants, pump stations, Treatment Plant Capital upgrades and more across the greater and south side of regional Brisbane Area. In addition to managing the Delivery phase of the program’s renewals projects, you will be collaborating with early contractor engagement, design, scheduling, cost and commissioning and maintenance teams to ensure smooth transitions and project success.

What you’ll do

  • Manage, coordinate and deliver a complex range of projects varying in size and scope.
  • Development of construction methodologies and project schedules for shortlisted design options.
  • Develop a strong understanding of water and wastewater treatment processes, operational requirements, and site constraints to inform construction planning, project delivery methodologies, and risk management strategies
  • Develop project cost estimates and budgets for construction works based on design information, scope, and project requirements.
  • Prepare Request for Tender (RFT) documentation based on design drawings and defined scopes of work
  • Foster a culture of innovation, proactively develop members, provide mentoring, leading by example and demonstrating a strong commitment to the Downer Standard and Zero Harm.
  • Support budget management processes and collaborate with the Senior Project Manager to optimise cost, implement improvements, ensure accurate records, reports and forecasting. 
  • Support procurement processes including implementation of Procurement Management Plan, Subcontractor engagement processes and supplier processes. 
  • Build strong relationships across design teams, clients and internal stakeholders to support optimal delivery across projects and greater partnership.

What we’re looking for

  • Engineering qualification with substantial experience managing civil projects on capital infrastructure. 
  • Project Management certification and RPEQ or willingness to obtain. 
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a dynamic contracting service orientated environment
  • Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills 
  • Developed analytical, planning/prioritisation, financial planning and budgeting skills
