Salary range: $128,392 to $145,662 per year, 37.5 hours/week (if successful appointee chooses remote work, it will be offered at (Step 1 of pay range 18 ). 
Northern Allowance: $16,328 per year (ineligible to successful appointee choosing Remote Work).

Reporting to the Manager, Project Management, the Project Manager is accountable for the application of the Government of Nunavut (GN) Project Management Policy and the Department of Transportation and Infrastructure Nunavut’s Project Management Process to consistently deliver major and complex infrastructure projects valued up to $50 million dollars within schedule and budget, and to meet agreed stakeholder needs. This is accomplished through extensive knowledge of the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK) and industry standards of Project Management as published by the Project Management Institute and extensive experience in the application of that knowledge in the direct planning and development of project management standards and processes of practice.

The Project Manager is the single point of responsibility throughout each of the five process groups of the project life cycle. This includes the following:

• Monitoring progress and performance of the project throughout the project phase, take action to prevent and correct variances, and identify areas in which changes to the plans are required and manages changes to the project baseline;
• Developing and monitoring ongoing activities and deliverables against the Project Management Plan and project performance baseline;
• Administering the contracts with design consultants and contractors, including authorizing payments with signing authority;
• Generating better project scope definition to enable preparation of a more accurate cost estimate; and completing the Project management Plan, in preparation of Project Construction Phase.
• Leading the tendering and Tender Evaluation, and Contract Award processes and ensuring all tender and contract documents are completed;
• Managing and coordinating with client staff, and Operations, and Maintenance for performance of the built work;
• Drafting and updating of the legislative Briefing Notes related to their assigned projects.

The knowledge, skills, and abilities required for this job are usually obtained through a recognized:

• Degree in engineering, architecture, project management or a relevant field;
• Three (3) years of relevant project management experience on large commercial and/or institutional buildings and/or civic works including direct experience managing the development and construction of infrastructure projects;
• Certification in Project Management is considered as an asset;
• Experience managing project work in northern jurisdictions is also considered as an asset

The Official Languages of Nunavut are Inuktut, English and French. Applicants may submit their resume in any of the official languages of Nunavut. Fluency in more than one of Nunavut’s official languages would be considered an asset. Knowledge of Inuit communities, culture, land,Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit, Inuktut and experience working in a northern cross-cultural environment are also considered assets.
