Job Overview:
SUMMARY
The SAGD Project Manager is responsible for managing the allocated SAGD site construction contract, fostering a positive relationship with the Client through planning, monitoring, controlling, reporting, communicating and leading the project. The SAGD Project Manager reports to the General Manager and directs the Construction Manager and project support staff.
JOB DUTIES
- Project setup through internal and client requirements, including site-specific execution, HSE and quality plans for SAGD facility work
- Review and/or contribute to the development of estimates, project execution plans and manage the project execution within the estimate guidelines
- Generate project budget and setup folders/templates
- Administer the contract, whether time and material or lump-sum, and manage the commercial terms, rate schedules and reimbursable provisions
- Coordinate the hiring or re-allocation of project staff and advise project staff of their job responsibilities in accordance with Project-developed RASCI Matrix
- Responsible for preparing a detailed sub-contractor requisition prior to execution
- Manage procurement and expediting of client-supplied and contractor-supplied material to suit the field sequence, including module and spool delivery dates
- Determine Project Schedule level of detail required and publish a 3 week look ahead in collaboration with site supervision
- Maintain and report the project risk register, including winter construction, brownfield access, permitting and labour availability exposures
- Facilitate & lead project meetings
- Ensure RFI's are detailed and concise, and provide solutions where applicable
- Review all productivity/progress reports generated prior to issuance and articulate the impacts causing low productivities
- Ensure accurate and timely project reporting is provided and maintained
- Own the change management process; establish entitlement, quantify impact, and pursue timely client disposition of changes
- Review Extra Work Orders log, subcontract change log, and ensure information is adequately detailed
- Review and approve all invoices before they are issued to the Client, verifying signed cover sheets and supporting records against the delegation of authority matrix
- Review, reject, and/or approve all 3rd party project invoices and inter-company invoices prior to being issued for payment
- Maintain Client communication, ensuring impact and progress reporting are provided adequately and timely
- Oversee quality to ensure all inspections and documentation are accurate and maintained in accordance with Client and Company requirements
- Schedule and participate in audits with the Quality Manager
- Lead project close-out; final quantities, holdback release, turnover documentation, lessons learned and feedback to Estimating
- Various other duties as requested by management
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent relevant technical experience
- Minimum of ten (10) years of experience in industrial construction, involving civil, structural, mechanical/piping, or electrical scopes
- Demonstrated experience managing SAGD, oil sands or gas plant site construction contracts under time and material and lump-sum terms

- Able to define scope of work and project specifications

- Strong understanding of construction safety, quality control, and project controls, including earned value and Rules of Credit reporting
- Command of prompt payment and lien legislation applicable to Alberta construction contracts
- Basic accounting knowledge
- Excellent problem-solving skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Skilled in MS Office
- Experience/Knowledge with Primavera is preferred
