Job Description:

The Center for Broadening Participation in STEM (CBP-STEM) is looking for a Project Manager Research to work closely and collaboratively with Principal Investigator(s), research team, and other stakeholders to plan, direct, organize, and execute against project requirements; identify and acquire necessary resources and coordinates efforts by all parties to ensure timely delivery of project outcomes in accordance with the sponsoring source's expectations.

Essential Duties:

  • Plans, develops, implements, and manages a project team through complete task definitions and work requirement identification and assignments.

  • Works closely and collaboratively with key stakeholders to define project scope, strategy, budget, and outcomes; identifies critical resource expertise and targets appropriate internal and/or external sources to ensure optimal outcome(s).

  • Establishes and continually monitors/manages project expectations with team; assigns tasks and identifies issues for resolution to ensure optimal team effectiveness.

  • Prepares and maintains all project status reports and schedules; tracks milestones/deliverables, critical paths and dependencies; re-sets expectations as needed in consideration of project progress/outcomes.

  • Responds to all inquiries regarding project status; prepares all regulatory reporting/filings to ensure compliance.

  • Manages, coaches, and supervises all project team members both internal and contracted to ensure optimal outcomes; builds, develops, and maintains relationships vital to project success. Works collaboratively with Principal Investigator(s) to engage leadership, associated scientists and other research related staff to define and identify all required project infrastructure.

  • Prepares all post-project reports, budget allocations and summaries/filings to ensure timely dissemination of information to all interested parties.

  • Coordinates project activities; assists in execution. Identifies trends, anticipates and responds to project risks and results.

  • Organizes tasks, responsibilities and outcomes; documents activities and tracks progress. Prepares and summarizes project budgets.

  • Fosters team effectiveness by acting to develop an environment that promotes the effectiveness and morale of the tea

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience facilitating programs, workshops, or professional development with community colleges and/or universities, particularly with faculty.

  • Knowledge of marketing principles and practices.

  • Strong customer service skills, including active listening, acknowledgment, and effective communication.

  • Strong skills in communication assessment, editing, research, and summarizing information.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present information effectively through oral, written, and digital/media formats.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with internal and external committees, faculty, staff, community members, and other stakeholders.

  • Knowledge and experience with artificial intelligence (AI), technology, and emerging digital tools are highly desired.

  • Strong organizational and administrative skills, with the ability to manage assigned administrative responsibilities and support program operations.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

  • Remote work is an arrangement where the employee spends less than 60% of their regular workweek at a regularly assigned ASU work location. Executive vice president-level approval is required.  

 

Standard Working Environment:  

  • Climate-controlled office setting subject to extended periods of being in a stationary position. 

  • Regular use of a computer and other office productivity equipment, such as a calculator, copy machine, and printer.

The Center for Broadening Participation in STEM at Arizona State University is a research organization focused on advancing educational strategies in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). CBPSTEM supports experiential learning opportunities for students and provides capacity-building services for faculty. The Center also examines the impact of these efforts on outcomes for STEM faculty, staff, and students.
