Job Objective:

Responsible for setting the pace and implementing business transformational and continuous improvement strategy with sensitivity towards the organizational structure, mission and values, culture, people and processes. Leads small to medium teams in the use of Lean methodologies, tools and other techniques to optimize processes, eliminate waste, improve quality and reduce costs.

Education:Required: Bachelor's degree in Health Care, Business or Health Care Administration, Industrial Engineering or related field Preferred: Master's degree in Health Care, Business or Health Care Administration, Industrial Engineering or related field Licensure/Certification:Required: Certified Lean Six Sigma Black Belt or Certified Six Sigma Black Belt Experience: Required: Five (5) years of project management or process improvement experience in health care or as a consultant for process improvement projects

Ability to analyze issues, identify root causes, and develop solutions, Ability to facilitate group discussions that identify problems and generate alternative solutions, and lead group decision-making process to evaluate, select, and implement solutions, Ability to foster a cooperative and supportive work environment, promoting teamwork and morale, Ability to plan, document, and manage projects to completion, Ability to plan and manage effective meetings, Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time efficiently to meet deadlines, Ability to set goals and work independently and efficiently with minimal supervision, Ability to use facilitative leadership skills to gain consensus and manage the group decision making process, Advanced proficiency in collecting, analyzing, interpreting data with the ability to translate analytic findings to a non-analytic audience, Excellent interpersonal (listening, communication and negotiation) skills characterized by effective interaction with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders, General knowledge of regulatory standards, including JCAHO, CMS, CMA and DHS, Project management, analytical and research skills, Technical mastery of Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, Written and verbal communication skills

Essential Responsibilities

1. Demonstrates compliance with Code of Conduct and compliance policies, and takes action to resolve compliance questions or concerns and report suspected violations 2. Collaborates with the process improvement team and in consultation with Executive Leadership, for the creation and implementation of best practice Lean vision, strategy, policies, processes and procedures to aid and improve operational performance. 3. Contributes to new health system initiatives and projects; reviews and communicates the impact on Lean activities. 4. Independently works as an internal consultant, mentor, and team leader to develop people to solve problems, promote Lean thinking and foster a continuous improvement culture throughout the organization. 5. Reports on progress of projects, understanding the risks, dependencies, budgets, resourcing, issues, critical milestones and forthcoming outcomes, and actions necessary to ensure success. 6. Reports on achievement of targets and identifies any actions required. 7. Coaches and facilitates teams in monthly 5-Day Lean Kaizen events and projects using A3 Thinking methodology for problem-solving. 8. Leads by example in use of Lean concepts, tools & techniques to drive continuous improvement and achieve long-term sustainment and promote an organizational cultural transformation. 9. Coaches process owners on A3, Kaizen (Lean) events, daily management system (DMS), implementation of completion plans, and sustainment of Lean events. 10. Identifies relevant process and financial measures from which to assess process improvement outcomes. 11. Researches current best process improvement practice(s) to be utilized in process improvement projects and Kaizen (Lean) events. 12. Presents information, such as data driven analysis and reports, methods, and other results in a logical and understandable format to a wide variety of audiences. 13. Moves multiple high priority projects forward simultaneously and is accountable for projects/performance; anticipates potential problems, issues, needs and proactively addresses or elevates to Director of Process improvement. 14. Develops, implements, and manages key performance indicators (KPIs) for each area of responsibility. 15. Develops and maintains strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure optimal performance. 16. Assists with outlining the direction and deployment of the Lean framework to ensure consistent and rigorous application across the health system in line with best practice. 17. Assists with the successful management and implementation of health system improvement projects/initiatives across the business by developing an enthusiastic, motivated and flexible team and building working relationships ensuring that patient safety is maintained. 18. Performs other duties as assigned.

Skills Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Health Care, Business, Health Care Administration, Industrial Engineering or related field

  • Certified Lean Six Sigma Black Belt or Certified Six Sigma Black Belt
  • Five years of project management or process improvement experience in health care or as a consultant
  • Technical mastery of Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Experience facilitating Lean methodologies, Kaizen events, A3 thinking, and daily management systems
  • Ability to collect, analyze, and translate data to non-technical audiences and develop KPIs
  • General knowledge of regulatory standards (JCAHO, CMS, CMA, DHS)
