The Project Manager III manages, plans and coordinates the full life-cycle of projects for the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), specifically for the Office of Food Policy and Response (OFPR). This position helps to ensure that the goals and objectives are accomplished within the prescribed timeframe and funding parameters.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS  

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain the required customer clearance for access to systems, facilities, equipment and property.   
  • A current Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification is a preferred.
  • Must have experience managing projects within an enterprise information technology (IT) environment and coordinating activities across multiple stakeholders.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Manage projects within an enterprise IT environment and coordinate activities across technical teams, program stakeholders, and government leadership.
  • Support OFPR in project planning by gathering information, developing project plans and timelines, and identifying required resources.
  • Oversee the full project life cycle from initiation through completion, ensuring deliverables meet scope, schedule, and quality expectations.
  • Develop and maintain project scopes, schedules, milestones, and deadlines using project management software.
  • Supports working group leads with scheduling and facilitating meetings; prepare meeting agendas, minutes, action items, and routine status reports. Conduct timely follow‑up to ensure actions are addressed.
  • Tracks project progress, document milestones, and update timelines for assigned deliverables.
  • Keeps the Office Director, Deputy Director, and Senior Leadership informed of project status, risks, and potential obstacles.
  • Provides updates on working group activities and ensure reports and deliverables are submitted by required deadlines.
  • Conducts requirements gathering, develops project charters, WBS, schedules, and timelines.
  • Applies project management best practices and federal regulatory standards.
  • Drives process improvements and implements best‑in‑class planning, scheduling, and budgeting practices.
  • Produces high‑quality reports, documentation, and presentations.
  • Utilizes Microsoft Office and project management tools effectively.
  • Demonstrates strong leadership, organization, collaboration, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Works independently and in a highly collaborative team environment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE 

Bachelor's degree preferred and a minimum of seven (7) years relevant project management experience, or equivalent combination of education / experience.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS 

Work is primarily performed in an office environment. Regularly required to sit. Regularly required use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms to handle objects and operate tools, computer, and/or controls. Required to speak and hear. Occasionally required to stand, walk and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Exposed to general office noise with computers printers and light traffic.

The estimated pay range for this role is $100K to $135K, with the final offer contingent on location, skillset, and experience.
